Return to the feelings
Our emotions in dreams can help us understand its meaning. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream. Pay attention to how you feel about detectives in dreams. See how you feel about detectives now, in your waking life.
What are possible meanings for dreams of detectives?
A detective character in your dream can connect with investigating something or seeking the truth. Detectives investigate crimes and wrongdoings. They seek information and truth. That idea translates to your life when you have questions you want answered.
For example, you realize your marriage is on the rocks and wonder how it happened. You dream about a detective watching a person as she works long hours, and realize your marriage is falling apart because you or your spouse spend too much time at work.
Detectives pry into personal lives and uncover hidden information and motives. In dreams, that idea translates to feeling that your personal life is pried open, that someone is snooping around where you don’t want them, or that something you want hidden will be exposed. It can connect with a guilty conscience, bad intentions, and secrecy—strong possibilities to consider if you dream about being followed by a detective.
Detectives establish the facts, so dreaming about a detective can connect with separating fact from conjecture, opinion, fiction, or lies.
You can feel like you are a detective when you have been entrusted with secrets or private information.
Detectives investigate crimes, and the idea of what is a figurative crime can stretch far. Such as, it’s a crime that you dropped a good habit or idea, or gave up what you want to do with your life. You feel robbed, victimized, denied. See: Crime
When you play the role of detective in a dream, maybe it means you are the one prying into personal lives or discovering secrets. Or you are investigating a possibility, or why something happened. It can mean that you’re trying to uncover something about yourself that’s hidden, such as talents or abilities. Or you repressed memories and they need to be uncovered. However, any personal association with detectives can be used to create symbolism.
For example, a man has recurring dreams about being a homicide detective in a city where he used to live. He never actually investigates crimes; instead, the dreams largely revolve around thinking about the implications of having a steady job. He associates the job of homicide detective with making major sacrifices to personal life in return for salary and benefits, and that theme is prevalent in his life as he pursues his dream job and sacrifices having a salary and benefits. The city he used to live in is where he first started pursuing his dream, so it’s used as the setting.
Excitement about investigating something can mean you are excited about a prospect or opportunity such as buying a home or starting a new career. Being bored or frustrated while investigating can mean you’re bored of the same old routine and need a new adventure. Connect the feelings brought up by the dream with what’s happening in your life.

What I scribbled on paper after a dream I had last night.
Had a dream the vampires were after me. Mansion. Rubies lighted up when they were looked at by vamps, that’s how we could detect them. They sexed with others to turns others into them. Brave detectives I knew.
Good men blew up the entrance to the mansion to trap them in. Then the vamps got the rocks out of the way to escape so now they were free in the world.
I never saw my dad cause we were both training for when they came for us like they did the suited man. We were in a military row.
Them vampires were gettin us from beyond the globe.

Hiding the body
I stab someone in self defense and try desperately to hide it. It's in an apartment that seems that some kind of vague criminal syndicate that I'm forcibly involved in has begun using for minor operations. The knife goes in the back of a toilet that is regularly unused until I can figure out what to do with it (comes up later). The man is cut into pieces that I divide into several plastic bags. I am regularly interrupted by people I know that are involved in this background plot that is very extensive and also terrifying, but somehow they dont notice. I know from previously having this dream that I later melt the body parts in an acid of some kind. Someone is calling the man's phone. I put it on silent.
The background plot is something incredibly extensive that i have accidentally gotten involved in. Escape seems pretty impossible because they threaten my dad. The guy I killed and the fact that I have to hide it instead of report it has to do with it somehow, but I still cant tell any of the people involved about it, or I and my father might be killed (or so I think). I think the murder itself was orchestrated to happen, and that the man I killed was in fact also involved.
The dream spends the entire time referencing an event that everyone involved is going to. Something about representatives, with supporters, like factions. And when the representative is killed, their factions attempt to kill each other. I keep being asked if I will attend by increasingly ominous figures. I think the people I'm involved with are a rogue hyper violent communist sect. There are comments made to that effect, anyway.
Previous times I've had the dream I discover later that the syndicate (faction?) has been behind me step by step cleaning up after me. It's undetermined whether the murder is an initiation ritual, or simply blackmail material. I think it was kind of both.
In previous versions, the knife is a key point in their involvement. I go back for it and it is gone. At this point, a detective has been to the house and seen it spotless (this was who was calling his phone), and I worry he has taken it. I explain away the man's absence somehow, but he isn't buying it. The knife is later presented to me as proof of the fiction's power.
From what I remember of previous iterations, there is not a happy ending. There have been versions where I attend the mini thunderdome thing and sabotage it somehow, but ultimately a lot of people I care about are hurt no matter what. Not certain why I have had this incredibly extensive and horrifying dream multiple times, but every single time I wake up shaken and desperately convinced I have to hide this body.

Naked, attraction, bleeding ears
I had a weird dream last night. In my dream there was a lot of noise outside our house, like there was a riot. I wasn't really paying much attention to it (irl I also get lost in thought all the time), the next thing I knew I'm right outside the bathroom. I woke up from being unconscious and I was already lying on the floor. I was naked and barely covered by a towel. My family was trying to wake me up while panicking. Then there was a loud boom and the next thing I know a group of authorities (they seem to be guards and detectives) opened our door. They told us that something worse is about to happen so they wanted everyone to open their houses just so they can easily do their rounds and check on everyone. One of the detectives entered our house and was left to stay with us for some reason.
That time I felt kinda embarrassed since I didn't have clothes on. It was a blur but I heard that my mother told him that I fainted, and she frantically went out to do something important. I slowly rose up and tried to cover myself more. I dragged myself to the bathroom. As I was about to close the door I looked at the detectives and he was also looking at me. He seemed like he was very attracted to me, but he didn't seem like a malicious character and actually wanted to help me put my clothes on.
I hinted that I know what he thinks, and he didn't deny it, and wanted to come inside the bathroom to help me and... you know what. I tried to look at him again, and I actually found him attractive. I told him that, and he was surprised that I was too straightforward. I know it kinda sounds like a porn movie or something lol but the whole situation was emotion-laden, it wasn't just lust. Like we felt like it was love at first sight. We looked at each other and smiled.
I started wondering when I saw this person before. My dream self knew he was a stranger but it felt like we've known each other for a very long time. Then I suddenly had a vision of him from the past - just him talking with his friends, nothing negative. Then I snapped back to reality and looked at him. Got a bit sad for some reason and told him, I'm sorry but I couldn't let him in. And so I closed the door.
Then the next thing I know I'm already wearing white clothes, and I'm on my bedside window witnessing a man in black who looks almost demonic threaten a man. After a few nasty exchanges, the demonic man shouted that he will destroy everything important to the man, at that time I felt like I had to leave immediately but I couldn't move. The demonic man shouted once again and broke our window. Some of the glass shards got into my left ear and it was bleeding.
My mother saw me and rushed me to the kitchen. She tried to take out the glass shards in my ears but there's just too many so she started panicking. I noticed that thedetectivese was still in our house, and he was trying to help my mom. Seemed like my mom also wanted him to help. But for some reason I felt sad toward him and just wanted him to stop helping me. My dream self wanted him to leave me and stop interacting with me further.
I don't know the man irl. He seemed to be roughly the same age as me and was wearing white clothes.
Any thoughts about this?

I Dreamed Of Longtime Friend That I Don't Even Know
My dream went a little like this. It was night time and I got out of a motel. I was on the second floor. I walked outside the front door where there was a balcony and stairs. I met a girl at the beginning of the stairs, she had on a tan detective looking coat. I felt like it was an old friend that I haven't seen in so long. It felt like I knew her for lifetimes. The weird part was that her face was blurred and I never saw her face. We hugged eachother and I had one arm around her while we walked down the stairs and there were people looking at us and saying "awwwww". We walked across the street and we were catching up and talking about random things and my arm was still around her. It felt like we were walking down the strip of Vegas because there were other people walking by us and I remember seeing lots of tall buildings and pretty city lights. And then she stopped me and put her forehead to my forehead. She then said I'll see you soon again and then a while light started to form from our foreheads and it got brighter. It got so bright that I was blinded with whiteness. Everything faded into blinding whiteness, kinda like a flashbang that started from our foreheads. And then I just woke up.
What does this even mean? Meeting someone that I felt I knew for lifetimes but I never saw the face or knew who it was?

I shouldn't propose?
Ok, dream detectives, I need some help cracking this one.
I had a nightmare last night. It started out as a dream of me being happy, planning to propose to my boyfriend of almost three years, as I plan to do in two weeks, but the tone of it QUICKLY turned dark.
I had this... THING manifest to me out of seemingly nowhere. And, to my surprise, it was me... but basically what an evil djinn would look like. Completely made of black smoke, glowing red eyes, and what appeared to be glowing red lighting marks all over the being's body.
She screamed at me, yelling, "DON'T PROPOSE! DON'T PROPOSE! DON'T PROPOSE!!!" and slowly advancing over me like the snake did to Lil' Nas X in the Montero video. I woke up in a cold sweat.
What confuses me is this- it was clearly a dark energy enveloping, or trying to envelop, me. So... shouldn't you generally not follow dark energy's advice?
Side note: I have depression. This is roughly what my depression demon looks like (her name is Shadow btw) but minus all of the red.
