Return to the feelings

Our emotions in dreams can help us understand its meaning. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream. Pay attention to how you feel about joy in dreams. See how you feel about joy now, in your waking life.

What are possible meanings for dreams of joy?

The emotions experienced in dreams are likely to connect with some event or circumstance in your life. If you experience joy in a dream, ask yourself what you have to be joyful about for yourself or someone close to you. What have you accomplished, what is going well, what makes you really happy? It might be connected with a big, joyful event such as having a child, getting engaged, or graduating from school.

However, dreams also amplify the smaller events and circumstances in our lives, so they don’t pass unnoticed or under-appreciated. Waking up feeling great about yourself and your life can translate into a dream as a feeling of joy. Being the center of attention or gaining recognition can be a source of joy. Doing something that makes you proud of yourself, or starting a new job or embarking on a new course in life, can be a source of joy.

Keep in mind that the source of your joy might not be apparent in a dream. Instead, you react to a symbol according to your subconscious knowledge of what it symbolizes. For example, you react with joy when you dream about your dog giving birth to a puppy, and the symbolism connects with the joy you feel for a friend who had a baby. You react with joy when you dream about going to Paris, and the symbolism connects with Paris as symbolism for a destination you reach in your life.

Had this dream about a month ago and i still think about it daily

So i had this dream about my dad living in France and being married to another woman who's pregnant. My dad gets back to tunisia(my home country) to spend some time with us before the baby's delivery as he'd be very busy. We were at the beach having fun and stuff until his wife called him saying that the child is dead before delivery. My dad then starts crying heavily and becomes very hysterical very soon,I then told the doctor that we have to find a solution otherwise he's going insane so the doctor went to console him a bit as he told him "i think you're being very nonsensical right now as you're so caught up in your emotion that you could only think about the good part of having a child but you're forgetting that children can be very hard to deal with, you're also very old for a child." my dad was oblivious to every thing he said so the doctor looked at me in desolation. Some time later, the doctor came back to me saying that he's got THE solution to the problem:a simulation of a baby.
So they made a baby(not a baby, looked like a 3 year old but let's call him that)so the doctor introduced him to my father saying "this is your child" my dad's face gets illuminated with joy and he starts playing with him as we were all watching. Some minutes later, the child begins acting up, saying rude stuff, pushing my dad away, so my dad then gets really pissed.i was watching this sitting on the side couch with my brother and the doctor, suddenly a group of doctors (including the one standing) started running at the back in a very random way so when i asked my brother why they were running he said that they're trying to push the wind in the child's direction to make him fall and break because he's made of glass. About some time later, the child had fallen and broke, my father then watched him in awe and started crying but in a healthy normal way not in the way he cried the first time and after a little while he almost forgot about the child that broke and that's when the doctor smiled at me as we talked telepathically saying that my dad finally understood how to grieve. The dream ended with me hugging my dad so tight as we were both crying very very hard and i woke up just to find myself crying very heavily.

What does it mean?

I had a dream a few days ago which shook me and I’m not sure what it quite meant. I was with someone and she was laughing. I tend to dream quite lucidly so it felt real and I could really feel the atmosphere of joy. Then the weather got dark outside and her smile slowly dropped and she got up and started walking outside. I was very confused so I tried to catch up with her and ask where she was going and she wouldn’t answer me. She kept saying she was sorry and it was in a very eery way almost like how you’d hear a ghost and it terrified me. I managed to catch up with her at this underground train station where everyone around us were completely blank people with no faces, normal clothing but no facial features or hair or anything. That was when I could see she was crying so I put my hand on her shoulder and that was when she pulled off her hair to reveal she was bald. To which I said “I don’t care about that” to which again she responded with “I’m sorry” and then backed away onto a train and the train sped off with her on it. I remember in that moment I felt extremely cold and I noticed that the people with no faces disappeared too. That was when I woke up feeling very uncomfortable and confused. It wasn’t a nightmare I’d say, but it was the creepiest dream I’ve ever had. What could it possibly mean?

I (m22) met my brother’s (m19) future children.

I (m22) met my brother’s (m19) future children.

I had a dream my brother and I went to our childhood park by my grandparents house. For some reason I was told I had to take care of some kids. My brother, who looked like his 19 year old self, explained to me right before we got there that they were his children. I met them at the park, there were two boys, both babies.

I held them and I wept, people always talk about the joy of having children and I never got it but in the dream I did. I was crying tears of joy because of these precious children my brother had. Very quickly they grew up to about 8-10 year old age within a minute. One looked exactly like my brother but with lighter hair and a little chubbier. The other looked skinny and taller with blonde hair and looked white (we are Hispanic).

I spent time with them but for some reason my brother left. I feel so weird about this dream, I feel confused and like I want to see my nephews again, any thoughts?

Had this dream yesterday and I've been feeling such unease after it. Can somebody help me?

I had this very weird dream. My current self (23 F) is sleeping and suddenly in my dream I am transported to the future where my 80-85 year old is lying on her deathbed in the same position. There are some people around me and one of them is holding my hand. My present self senses that might be my daughter and looks around for people like my mother and my sister but they're not there so she presumes that they're not alive. The old me is sobbing and have finally accepted that its her time to go as well and close her eyes and leave her daughter's hand. Nobody around her shed a tear when she died in front of them. They were sad and just leaned to each other's shoulders. My present self was watching everything and started crying a lot. My present self also kept trying to have a conversation with my dead older version but she's dead. She gets anxious that she just have a couple of hours to be with my dead self before she is cremated. My present self just stared at my dead self noticing each scar and wrinkle on her body. She wondered what she must have gone through. Did she have a happy life? A lover and a family and comfort and joy?
After some time they took my body up for cremation and my present self started shouting and crying that's it's way too soon. She's still looking for answers. They carefully put her body in a pyre that was arranged so well. A man finally lit the pyre and my present self could see the soul getting free. As a custom, he broke the skull of my dead self and that also caused a lot of pain to me. I was sobbing and crying and shouting. How do they get to decide when it's time to cremate when my present self is there. I needed more time with my dead body. But they set her free.
