What are possible meanings for dreams of letters?

As something that comes in the mail, a letter can symbolize a message, answer or reply you’re expecting to receive.

Receiving a letter, note, email, or even a text message in a dream can symbolize communication between parts of your mind, or between mind and body. Your head and heart communicate. Your ego and unconscious mind communicate. It’s a regular gabfest in there as you sleep.

And dreams are the facilitator, the mailman.

Your brain is very active while dreaming. During REM stage, when dreaming is most vivid, the brain is as active as when you’re taking a test. It becomes like a plastic that heats up and is malleable—referred to in neuroscience as neuroplasticity. Neural pathways form and reroute as the brain reviews everything that happened since the last time it cleaned house, and it creates dreams around the memories to help the process along. Memories, thoughts, emotions; messages from the body, the spirit, the unconscious—all included in the tune-up and pruning. Everything you learn, everything new experienced, is integrated into what you already know and the existing structure of your psyche.

Valuable information is communicated to you in dreams. Think of it as a “note to self.” Your unconscious mind, which is better at putting together clues and has no illusions or blind spots, sends you a message in a way most likely to get through.

For example, a woman has been communicating with a love interest who lives overseas. She dreams that she receives a letter from him that’s addressed to another woman. The dream shows that she knows deep inside that the situation with the man is not leading to where she wants it to. She wants a relationship with him, wants to move to be with him, but he is not on the same page.

Another fascinating theme related to letters that arises in dreams is when you read about yourself in a letter. Often, these dreams are related to communication from the unconscious mind. The unconscious sees the big picture of you and it has really valuable things to say. It can provide insight, perspective, and direction. See: Books

Reference to mail in a dream can be a wordplay on “male,” the gender. For example, a woman dreams about checking into a B&B. A woman is at the front desk, and an unseen man is in an adjoining room, the mailroom. The mailroom is the part of her mind focused on her father, and the man is back there unseen because her father has been in the background of her life for many years. At the end of the dream, a thick letter addressed from him awaits her at the front desk. It says all the things she needs to hear about how he loves and cherishes her, which she knows subconsciously but isn’t sure about consciously.

What does it mean when you get a letter from someone and there's nothing written on paper?

I had this dream that a girl I went on a date with sent me a letter. I was driving and SUV as I was headed to her place. I saw her house and it looked ruined and destroyed. I park my car to open the letter she gave me and there was nothing but a lined peice of paper. I remember I got frustrated that there wasn't any writing.

Why is typing anything in a dream so hard?

So I had an unusually long dream today and
towards the end, I received a message on my phone, but it immediately went away. I tried using the phone to respond to it, but it was glitching etc. Later I decided to text a friend to ask about it and the letters on the keyboard were all messed up and it felt like texting while really drunk. Every word looked like gibberish and autocorrect would mess up the words even more. It was really frustrating, has that happened to anyone else?

What does it mean to dream of getting back with my first love while in the process of marrying the man I am with now?

I was with my first love for 7 years, we were basically kids. We stopped dating 3 years ago and I met the man I am with now 2 years ago. The man I am with now just purposed to me and wants to marry me.. I still talk to my ex from time to time just to see how hes doing and we cut off the conversation but he always keeps in touch. Last night I had a dream that me and my fiance moved into a big huge penthouse and my ex showed up to my window with a letter and I took the letter and my fiance kicked him out. I began to read the letter and I couldnt fully read it because I was hiding in my closet so nobody can see me, but most of it was a letter he wrote to me asking for forgiveness and how he regrets what happend to us and truly is in love with me. The dream then jumps forward to me and my fiance in this new house still and its such a luxury home and thats not the life we live right now. In this dream the new penthouse still made me unhappy. I was overall unhappy with the house and everything my fiance was buying for me. I had the biggest closet in this dream with all the expensive name brands and I was still unhappy. The dream jumps forward again and my ex comes back and I let him in the house while my fiance is sleeping because I wanted to know what the heck he wanted.. then I woke up

What does this mean?

First time posting here. I (32 f) am an avid dreamer, yet I have difficulty remembering them unless they're particularly profound to my subconscious. I woke up this morning sweating and terrified and left with questions. Here's the dream:

Working in an office that resembled a place where I no longer work. There were many bad times at this office, so I suppose that's why my brain put me there. I was sitting quietly at my desk and working hard on something, probably a spreadsheet.

Two women I didn't recognize came around and started handing out paychecks; I recall thinking this was odd since I was paid direct deposit by this company. Anyway, they hand out about 4 checks before saying, "That's all we have. We only had enough checks to pay employees whose last names start with letters A - C."

I got upset and started to say something along the lines of, "I'm going to call (boss) and tell him you're not paying the rest of us. This is illegal, you can't just not pay us! I have a kid to feed!"

Response was, in short, "Tough shit."

I rode an elevator down to a parking lot and called this boss guy. He answers the phone and I say, "Mr. Delphi?" (Not my original boss's name)

"Ah, fuck it, call me Tourettes." Definitely *not* my boss's name lol

"Okay, well, it's payday and they're not paying anyone whose last name doesn't start with letters A through C."

Silence then a response, "Haha, that's how it goes. Sucks to be you!"

My alarm went off and I woke up, heart racing and *angry*. This can't just be surface value I'm worried about money, considering I have two jobs and make a decent living. Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks for reading!

Terrible Dream... need translation.

So recently we bought two bibles, one for me and my partner. Last night I had a dream that we opened one up, and the pages were black with gold text, I bumped one of the pages with my mouth and it tore the page, the slowly the letters started to bleed red. We jumped out of bed and tossed it in the trash before it made a mess.... but then I woke up (so I thought) I could feel my partner next to me, I was cold as I had no blankets on me, so I grabbed the blankets on my partner and pulled them on to me. I then felt something grab the blanket near my hip and try to lift it, I quickly pushed the blanket in back down, and knowing it wasn't something natural. I could no longer move and I was trying to speak and wake up my partner, rolling my body into hers and only being able to put out a light moan. I tried to wake her up, then I felt the weight of something on my arm and side, as if it climbed on top of me.... then I really woke up.
