What are possible meanings for dreams of old friends?
Dreaming about an old friend in a dream can mean you miss the person, or the person recently crossed your mind. Sometimes a seemingly random thought or dream about a friend you have not spoken to in a while can indicate it’s a good time to get in touch.
However, the majority of dream characters represent something about you, and in the case of an old friend, dreams have many references to draw on to create symbolism. Dreams can be packed full of references to people you used to know, and figuring out the symbolism is tricky because a dream can use anything you associate with that person to create symbolism, such as personal qualities and traits, what the person means to you, and the time of life you shared together. So as with any symbol in a dream, begin by making associations, then ask yourself whether any of them fit the dream-story.
For example, in a dream about an old college friend holding a map in the passenger seat of a car driven by the dreamer, the old friend represents the help the dreamer needs with organizing a big project. The friend taught the dreamer a trick long ago for how to organize big projects, and the dreamer had forgotten it. See: Maps
An old friend appears in a dream as a guy who is working hard and being disciplined in order to be more successful. The old friend is someone the dreamer associates with success through hard work and discipline, and is used in the dream to refer to those qualities in himself.
An old friend shows up in a female’s dream when she is dealing with conflicted feelings about being too assertive and opinionated. She fears she will be perceived as acting too masculine. The old friend—an assertive, opinionated female—is someone she remembers as not caring what people think. Her presence is a way of reassuring the dreamer she is all right as long as she doesn’t care what people think of her.
An old friend shows up in a dream when the dreamer is trying to be more compassionate and engaged with people in his life, two qualities of that old friend.
An old friend appears when the dreamer is having financial difficulties. The friend is someone she knew when they were both poor and scraping to get by.
Dreaming about old friends can reference the time of life when you were close. It can be a way of saying that something started then that continues now: a thought pattern, a tendency, a circumstance. It can refer to something you did together, such as attend school or work together, or to a feeling you shared.
It’s common to dream about old friends when you miss the feeling of closeness and camaraderie—you don’t have that sort of friend in your life anymore.
When you dream about an old friend, begin the decoding process by asking yourself what the person reminds you of—it’s often portrayed in the dream or found in your feelings.
Of course, an old friend in a dream can be used symbolically, the same as other friend-characters. The person is used to tell a story about you and your life. See: Friends

Intense eye-contact in dream with a girl I used to know
There's a girl I used to speak to who I liked very much and she felt similar. Though for a reason I'll explain soon we knew we could never be together. I still think of her often, but she seems to be on my mind now a lot more now that I'm home from university and I know she's close by in my home town. I think of her a lot lately, everyday if you want the truth. Though I don't think she thinks of me as much as I her.
I had a dream in which we sat on a park bench table, her on one side, me on the other. There were lots of people around, the bench/table was full. Her ex-boyfriend and who is also my old friend sat next to me. I tried to avoid looking at her throughout the whole dream and she seemed to also be avoiding looking at me, though I caught her glance a few times. Then I saw her outright staring at me. It was crazy. I gave up attempting not to look at her and looked back up and I see she's staring at me like no-one's ever stared at me before. The most intense stare I've ever seen. I couldn't decipher her expression. I don't know if it was sympathy for the hard times she knew I went through, whether it was a look of longing for me, whether it was the look when you get when someone wants to fuck you. It was just an expression of pure intense emotion like I'd never seen before. I dreamt this about a week ago and can't stop thinking about it. I can't describe it properly with words. It was crazy. and it's been on my mind a hell of a lot.
After that, a huge crowd of people who she knows and people I don't like took me away. One guy grabbed me by the arm real hard and took me away across the field to somewhere. That's all I remember.
There's no point me talking to her because whatever we had is gone, it's a lost cause and I know she won't feel the same now. Maybe it's just a dream and means nothing. But I just can't stop thinking about that stare. It felt too real.
What do you think?

Had a dream about my GF
I had this terrible dream my gf and I weren’t together. She’s my first everything and I’m her first too. Been together 2.3 years, and never had sex with anybody else.
Anyway, we weren’t together in the dream and me and some friends went somewhere and I met there another good friend I haven’t seen in a decade and we hit it off and were excited and stuff until he had to go.
Then I met my gf in the same place and it was kinda quiet and not as flowing as it’s supposed to be. But she told me how she and my friend from a decade ago are meeting here and she’s looking for him. (They never met irl).
I asked her why they’re meeting and she said they’re FWB. And he called her and started fucking dirty talking to her right in front of me.
My heart legit broke and I left, and she didn’t even pursue me like she would do irl, and it offended me even more. I started crying BIG TIME in the dream and legit couldn’t stop. The emotions were so god damn intense I’m still impacted until now and I woke up an hour ago, she sent me a good morning text but I can’t even open it.
I have never felt something as strong as I have felt in the dream. When I woke up I literally jumped in relief. It was so tough for my “dream me.”

I had a dream about a friend of mine and I told her and she is very mad at me
I had a random dream about a good friend of mine. We are long time friends and I am also friends with her husband. In the dream we are naked and lovers and there was a strong feeling. I mentioned it to my friend casually at a bbq before the virus and she isn’t talking to me. I also got some nasty texts from her husband. I think this is all not fair because it’s just a dream and not like I did something.

Weird Dream About Boats and Barges. What does it mean?
A previous ex was in my dream (we remain good friends and he's been a huge help in my life) and we were on some barge like thing but there's a ton of people on it (weird I know because barges don't usually carry people) then somehow we kind of stop and my ex is trying to signal people to this other weird barge looking thing but nobody wanted to go because it was unstable...so somehow I decide to go by myself but it's like this weird paddle boat thing attached to the barge and the barge is going and I'm on this little paddle boat shakily attached to the barge and I'm just riding the waters. I get soaked in water and maybe almost drown but I'm doing okay rocking and paddling away. Nobody is helping me but myself even though my paddle boat thing is attached to the barge full of people. The water is clear almost like pool water. When I almost drowned I swallowed some of it and it felt really good. Chlorinated but tasty. Fucking weird.
So what does this mean?
