Return to the feelings
Our emotions in dreams can help us understand its meaning. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream. Pay attention to how you feel about crashes in dreams. See how you feel about crashes now, in your waking life.
What are possible meanings for dreams of crashes?
Knowing that dreams create physical representations of personal situations gives you an initial way of approaching the interpretation of a crash. For example, it can symbolize lives colliding, or something in your life coming to a sudden halt or bad ending. Hopes crash. Plans crash. Stocks crash. Projects crash. Health crashes. It’s a versatile metaphor.
It can indicate a sudden crisis or drop in energy or enthusiasm. You reach your limit. Your body and mind shut down quickly. You “crash.”
Crashes are associated with taking risks and being reckless.
Do you cause the crash, or witness it? That detail can make a big difference to the meaning. Causing a crash means you are the likely source of whatever the crash symbolizes. Witnessing a crash can mean you’ve observed something that didn’t directly involve you. For example, you hear that a neighbor is arrested for a serious crime, and dream about a car crash in that part of the neighborhood.
Look at details of the crash for clues to its meaning. A solo crash with no passengers can symbolize a setback that affects only one person. Colliding with another car can symbolize two lives colliding. Or, if the cars are full of passengers, it can symbolize two groups colliding. A pileup can symbolize a messed-up group situation, or an obstacle to your progress. A plane crash can mean that a hope or ambition is lost, or that health takes a sudden dive. A motorcycle crash can symbolize exposure to harm, or inadequate protection. See: Groups, Passengers
When interpreting a crash, begin with the symbolism of the vehicle and cross-reference it with the symbolism of a crash.
Watch out for crash dreams that recur. It’s a sign of something habitually going wrong in your life, or a warning of what could happen.
Consider your personal associations. Being in a car crash can create powerful personal associations, and you’ll recognize them in the dream-story and your feelings about it. In which case, the meaning can be found by cross-referencing the dream with the incident. For example, you were in a major accident while in a car with someone driving recklessly, and now, years later, your spouse’s driving makes you nervous. Your dreams could connect the two by reliving the accident, so you see the source of your nervousness.
Reliving trauma is a way of processing it, and you are bound to dream about such an event soon after it happens. For more ideas about how to deal with this sort of dream, see: Nightmare.

I just had the most terrifying nightmare I've ever experienced. Advice needed
Hi, I'm extremely shaken about a dream or a vision I just had I have no idea what it was. I had just gotten back from a party and I was high and drunk, and I was getting ready to go to bed when I got up to turn the light and I completely blacked out. I then had the most terrifying and real nightmare I've ever had.
It was complete darkness, darker than darkness, like a complete endless abyss of it. The I started to see a fog that expanded and expanded and then I saw something terrifying. A demon, or something I can't even begin to describe what it was; its faces were changing constantly, it's eyes were the only light source, like looking into the sun, and it's voice, like from the bottom of hell.
The fear I felt was unreal, like there was no possible hope of happiness ever again, pure absolute terror. It then started chanting several of my friends names including me, over and over.
This felt like real life, like I had never even passed out, not had I ever had a dream that felt like I was genuinely there.
I asked what it meant, what my friends names meant and it replied with the most bizzare answer that sent chills down my spine - "if you had seen the face of God, no answer could satisfy you".
I have absolutely no idea what that even means but it feels like it has scarred me. Then I saw a bunch of things, some things I can't even remember if I tried, but one thing I saw was a train crash, and I also got a message saying "Peru", though I didn't really hear it I just felt it.
And then I woke up on my floor, completely and utterly terrified. I have NO Idea what just happened but I feel like I NEED to find out what it was, I feel like I need to find out what it meant, like I need to go to the mountains to speak to Holy men or monks or something to find out what the hell it meant. I can't stop thinking about it.
Does anyone have any idea what it could've meant? Because I'm too scared to try and get to sleep at this point, I feel like I must find out what it meant.
I’ve left a link of a drawing of the demon figure I made when I came round.

“We must find each other in real life”
About a month ago I had a dream that felt so intensely real. I don’t remember much of it, except I was in a house and hunted by something, and there was another person there (female) I never seen before and we where fleeing together, even trying different clothes to try and blend in and confuse whatever was hunting us, I remember we where in a store changing room at one point. Somehow we realised it was a dream, and on the floor in one room we found two pendants. We took on each and said to each other “we must find each other in real life!” I will not describe them because somehow I have some faint hope that maybe someone out there dreamt this too (i know, I know..)
Anyhow we got separated. When I went outside the building to look for her I saw a bright light that really hurt my eyes (And I thought it was weird because I knew it was a dream) that turned out to be a meteorite roaring down from the sky, and slowly drifted over a big lake before crashing down. People and kids were running towards it cause they where curios. But two more came and I saw that they would smash into the people and not the water. I forgot it was a dream at this point and was shouting for everyone to get out of the way. I felt the impact of the second meteorite in my whole body. At the third I woke up.
Anyone know how to interpret this? Been thinking about her a lot...

My dead friend told me what happens when you die in a dream
My freshman year of college I had a dream that my friend who had died in a car accident earlier that year approached me at night, I was in a dark house, and there were people around him moving in studders. He looked at me through a stained yellow window, and I asked him "
what happens when we die?" and he told me, "whatever you believe." After that dream I had another where an aztec man broke through my childhood room glass window and started shedding blue nails from his fingers, until he was just a pile of nails. Like the information my friend gave me was sacred or something.
Cool concept though. If you believe in heaven, you'll go to your brain's idea of heaven. Reincarnation, you'll live the life of some other animal/person. Hell, you'll live in your brain's idea of hell. Nothing, you'll live nothing. Maybe there is something to that, with the chemicals released in your brain when you die, and the few weeks it takes for that electrical activity to completely dissipate in your brain after dying. Maybe when we die, we're at least alloted a brief respite living in whatever colorful fantasy we imagined we might pass on to when we were living, before the electricity shuts off like a light switch and we do too. That dream always stuck with me.

I had a nightmare that the moon crashed into the earth and woke up paralyzed in fear.
Last night I dreamt that I was in this random house talking with someone, then all of the sudden everything went this unsettling orange hue and deafeningly and nauseatingly quiet.
There was an awful eerie crashing sound, the kind that sounds like the aftermath of a bomb dropping or something, that low rumble.
Suddenly no one could breathe like fish out of water, and I knew that the world was ending and felt the most gut-wrenching fear and panic. I started falling through the floor looking up at my mother screaming down at me. I knew I was about to die.
I woke up absolutely stunned. I was too afraid to even turn my lamp on. I felt like a child after a bad dream. I couldn’t shake that feeling of knowing it was all of the sudden the apocalypse.
I can’t stop thinking about this dream and I can still feel that fear - does anyone possibly have any thoughts? (I’m 26f if that helps anything!)

horrible dream.
i went to sleep at 11:30ish. i woke up, 12:45, after having lived five whole fucking years of my life.
i don’t even remember what i did at the start of the dream, because it was five years ago.
i went through school, i graduated. with a scholarship. i deferred it and moved out two weeks later with three of my friends, one of which i do not expect to have in my future. all in june 2020
i had a boyfriend, we got together january 2020. i’ve known him for a while, we’re in talking stage right now.
i went to college in 2021 for nursing. i dropped out because i hated it, and held a job at a strip club as a waitress.
i did so much. i voted in the 2023 election. one of my friends died in a car accident. i had a dog, named riley. and my roommate had a ferret named pearl.
it ended in august 2024, was a wednesday but the date isn’t in my head. i came home and found 4 year long boyfriend banging my roommate. i walked in and saw them, it was a fight and they insisted it was “friendly” and “okay because it wasn’t romantic”. i remember every single second of that conversation. i was screaming at the top of my lungs and so were they. i eventually got mad enough to leave, i slammed the door behind me and the hallway started looking off. i figured it was the tears welling my eyes making my vision all wonky so i shut my eyes really tight. i opened them, and there i was in the bedroom of the house i moved out of 5 years earlier.
i lived 5 years into the future in an hour. i woke up and i don’t know who i am anymore. i don’t have the same experiences that built me. i don’t have any motivation. i just DID everything i dot want to do it again.
i don’t know if this is exactly the place to write this. but i’m so disheartened and grieving and i’m terrified.
