What are possible meanings for dreams of quicksand?

Quicksand in a dream can represent the potential for danger. It implies being careful about the next steps you take in your life.

Quicksand slowly sucks a person in—what a terrific analogy for something that slowly consumes or overwhelms you. For example, a bad relationship or work situation you can’t escape, or an addiction, are things that slowly consume you. An extramarital affair can suck you in.

Also consider the possibility of quicksand as symbolism for being stuck in a situation or place in your life. For example, you graduate from college but don’t find a job in the profession for which you trained. Or at work you know you can’t advance until the person ahead of you quits or retires, and that’s not likely to happen anytime soon. You feel stuck in your life.

Almost crashed, quick sand trials

Dream 1:

My mom and I were angry at each other so I left the house and bought a new car. I started driving and made a plan to just keep going, but eventually decided to go to Florida.

As I was driving everything was going generally smooth, but I did have some difficulties navigating the road (I don't know how to drive irl). I made it to Florida, but we had to go through a border control. As I was getting closer, I made the decision to make a U-turn and head back into Georgia. I had to get out of my car and let the border control lady search it, and while we waited there was a house/club that we could wait in until our car were finished being searched. (Also, when I got to the border, it was 2 mins away from closing.)

Time starts to pass in the dream and it becomes night time. I heard into the house and I see three of my coworkers in their car heading to Florida as well. They were most likely trying to go to a party together or something. I said hey to them in surprise and they did the same.

Some more time passes and the border control lady comes to me and tells me that my car is done being searched and that she needs to hurry up and get me home because my mom has been calling every emergency hotline to try and find me. I get ready to go home, but I start feeling insecure about my driving abilities, so I go to the downstairs of the house (where my coworkers are) and ask them if one of them would be willing to drive me home. One guy says yes and we head out in my car. Somehow, I don't remember him actually driving me, I ended up driving the car myself again.

My sister ended up in the backseat of my car somehow and I'm panicking because I'm struggling with driving. The road is slippery and my tires are hydroplaning and I don't know how to keep the car in my control. I remember some random lady in a car beside me shouting "Your tires are slipping!!" I get out of the car and leave it on the side of the road and walk home (my sister isn't with me in the dream any more.)

I make it to my house (which was my family's old apartment) and climb up the stairs to unlock the door. My mom is angry at me. (I can't quite remember how things progressed from here but somehow we ended up walking together to go get my car). At this point in the dream it's pitch black outside. We are arguing as we walk together. By the time we reach the highway where my car is, a dark force has possessed the highway and rushes towards us and kills us.

What's running like when you dream?

I hear for some people it's like they're stuck in quicksand.

For me it's awful.

Excruciating pain in my legs. Like I'm being stabbed with knives, and I'm going really slow. The pain is unbearable.
Anyone know why this happens?

Also funny thing about running in my dream is if I run backwards, it doesn't hurt anymore but I'm just not running very fast.
It's really frustrating.

Dreamt of something mimicking my uncle chasing me into my house, then mimicking me exclaiming "Dang it" when I tripped.

I was bringing in groceries from my car, it was pitch black, but as I was walking towards my car, I heard my uncle calling out to me, but it didn't seem right because his car was nowhere in sight, and it was like 12:00 AM in my dream.

So I started running into my house, and as I was running, it started repeating my name in an urgent matter, but as I was running I felt so slow, like I couldn't run, then I tripped and exclaimed "Dang it" in my head, then whatever was chasing me started mimicking what I said in my head out loud over and over.

I was calling out to my mom, but it felt like I was in quicksand, eventually I made it into my house, I slammed the door and locked it instantly, it didn't try to get in, then I woke up.

Music Saved Me From Another Nightmare

Important: I always listen to music while I sleep, since dead silence doesn’t agree with me.

Dream:

Even though it didn’t start out as lucid, it was incredibly realistic.

I was running with all I had. The wall of darkness chasing me, wasn’t empty. It simply shrouded the beast hidden within.

I could hear it growling and snapping it’s jaws. There was a screeching sound, like nails on a chalkboard, coming from it’s claws dragging along the ground.

I was running so hard, my lungs were in pure agony. However, the beast was simply walking casually, as if on a leisurely stroll through the park.

Soon, the ground began to suck me in like quick sand, preventing me from going any further. The beast behind me cackled, knowing I was caught.

My heart pounded heavily in my chest and I hyperventilated. I knew I wouldn’t survive.

Except, there was a tiny voice in my head. “Stand up,” it said. “Find your feet and stand.” My attention was drawn to the direction the voice came from and I found a door. “Stand and reach the door. Stand and save yourself.”

I began to cry as if all of my problems would be solved simply by standing. I took control of the dream, accidentally turning it lucid, and I stood. I still struggled, but when I finally stood, I could grab the doorknob.

As soon as I touched it, the scene drastically changed. I was standing in a pure white room, filled with a strange static. It was similar to the sound of a record player, left on long after the record was over.

The sound distracted me for a minute, causing a pause in the lucidity and my dream tried to turn into a nightmare again.

There was a loud rumble, which reminded me of a thunderstorm, but it was happening directly next to me. It made my vision go blurry, my ears to scream and I began to lose my balance.

To make things worse, the ground below me began to bubble up, as if someone was boiling water beneath it, making the floor rise and fall with the bubbles.

That’s when I could hear it. Beyond the rumbling, I could hear the song playing on my speaker. This enabled me to snatch back part of my lucidity.

I didn’t have full control, but I had enough to allow the song influence my dream. The song was “Trampoline” by Shaed. It made the bubbles in the ground to gently expand to a much larger size. When I laid on my back, they’d slowly toss me up. It was like being on a trampoline, but everything was in slow motion.

Even after I had that feel of falling, my dream persisted well into the song. It was my dog who eventually woke me up… 120lbs of Mastiff standing on my leg… I am very, very bruised. Lol!

Important: I always listen to music while I sleep, since dead silence doesn’t agree with me.

Rarely dream but last night’s made me question the meaning?

I rarely ever dream, but I fell asleep listening to a guided meditation thing last night and woke up a couple times so I guess I wasn’t sleeping as heavily as I usually do.

We drove onto the beach in a 4 door pick up truck my parents had, but my parents weren’t there. It was a tour guide and someone else that I don’t really remember. There was an ancient giant rams skull on the foreshore, maybe 4-6’ tall and the guide/driver was telling us of the local origin/mythology (but I can’t remember that part). They stopped the truck and I got out to take a picture of it, and knelt down and put my hand on some sort of wet, water logged & rubbery dead sea-thing and just as I did, the tide started to come up behind me and I had to mash my feet into the ground as it was becoming quicksand-y and run to the truck and instruct them to get out before we were stuck. Got out onto dry land fine but I’m pretty sure this was the end of the dream.
