What are possible meanings for dreams of reptile?

People described as reptilian are concerned about one thing: survival. They look at the world solely in terms of what they can get and how they can dominate. They are emotionless and remorseless, ruled by impulse and survival instinct, so if any of those subjects was part of the day, reptiles might appear in dreams that night.

The reptilian brain—the part of the human brain shared with all reptiles and mammals—governs instincts, and a reptile can symbolize any base instinct associated with the reptilian brain: survival, fight or flight, aggression, fear, revenge, territorial behavior, and reproduction.

The reptilian brain also controls basic functions of survival such as heartrate, breathing, and body temperature. When your dreams refer to these functions, it can symbolize them as reptiles.

When reptiles appear in dreams, search yourself for feelings related to struggle and dominance. They’re easy to overlook, especially when the struggle is emotional, or the need to dominate is instinctual. We tend to discount how it feels to be exposed in large groups like school and work environments, with rules of the game that revolve around cold-blooded dominance and survival. It’s not a stretch to see how dreams can describe these conditions with reptiles or even insects; the imagery only has to be comparable on some level.

From the viewpoint of the dreaming mind, emotional survival is as important as physical. Dreams use scenes of physical peril to describe what it feels like to defend yourself emotionally. The violence is a metaphor for how it feels to “take a beating” emotionally from cold or impersonal sources comparable to reptiles. People literally “fighting for survival” will dream of reptiles to describe how it feels to scrape for something to eat, or struggle for heat on a cold night.

These associations, while common, sell reptiles short. Yes, they’re primitive and instinctual, but they can also come across as noble and strong. They’re survivors, and ability to survive is an admirable quality.

I had a long form dream where I kept forgetting to feed my pet turtles…what could it mean?

I tried looking up what it could mean in a dream if you keep forgetting to feed a pet but I couldn’t find anything.

This wasn’t the only thing going on in the dream though. It was more like a side thing (this dream was “weeks” long and I kept ending up back at my house and remembering that I hadn’t fed my turtles or cleaned them in a week. They were okay and alive each time though. I don’t remember what else was going on in the dream. Even though this wasn’t the main part of the dream it’s the main part of my focus because I did always have turtles growing up and I remember being anxious that I had forgotten to care for them a lot (I literally used to get worried sometimes at school like a little 9-year-old reptile mother). Anyway, what could it mean?

Chased by a Reptile Deamon on Another Planet

Typing another dream this morning, I figured I would post a dream I had back in 2000 that is just as clear to me now as it was then. Very short. I was on a train. Standing on the outside platform of the back car (caboose?) Looking backward. The scenery is not Earth. It's a red planet, looking more like Mars based on pictures I have seen. I can see the mountains and desolate rocky terrain. No other vegetation, animals, or people. It's flying by in a blur because this train is traveling at warp speed. The speed is so great all i can hear is a howling sound. I know there is no destination but to just keep traveling. But as I'm looking back I can see I am being chased (I am the only one on the train and there is no engineer) by a massive demonic looking reptilian creature. I kept gaining distance on the train. But I never went inside the train cars. I just stood staring at the creature. I will never forget it and that dream has never left me. I can still hear it and see it. I've lost none of it 21 years later.

Probably the weirdest dream I’ve ever had

Last night I had a very strange dream and I have absolutely no idea what it could mean or how I was even capable of dreaming that.

It was very short. I think I was running or perhaps even floating up the street and all I could see is dead, mutilated bodies of white/albino reptiles resembling strongly alligators or crocodiles (I didn’t even know they existed, as it turns out they do exist). I was running and dodging them, jumping over them as well. The scene was frightening and bizarre, as I saw 6 or 8 juveniles laying on ground, much like you would see body bags after an accident or something. On the side of the street I saw the bigger ones, also murdered. The street seemed familiar but I’m not sure what it was, maybe the street I used to live on a very long time ago when I was a kid.

It doesn’t necessarily concern me or anything, I’m just curious what it could mean.

I need help understanding what dream i had last night.

i am not going to write the whole story as I can only remember some parts. so i am going to start half way through my dream.

As i left my room i could see a ghost or soul walking up my house stairs(i was at the top of them) and it would only move once i looked away. i looked away 4 times and by then it was at the top of the stairs. i went to see my mother abt it (whos room is at the end of the hall on the right if i was facing the stairs) i walked towards her room facing the ghost ?. and entered her room we talked. not sure what about but it calmed me down a bit. as i left her room the first door on the left is the bathroom and i could see a shadow of some type of reptile on the floor. i walked into the bathroom and it was my father who passed away in 2017. He was in the shower he was naked, drenched looked very physically distorted and un coordinated but i could see that he was all there mentally he put his hand on the glass and i did back i could see the sadness in his eyes. and when i looked to my right i seen digital clock winding down once it hit 0 i woke up. I have never pictured someone with that much detail in my life and that is the only dream i have ever had where i feel that person has had consciousness

im sorry if that doesnt make sense i am
confused right now and dont know how to get my words out. the time after i left my mothers room is the only
part i remember 100% of what happened. i know this might sound like a non sense but i have never had a dream feel as realistic as this.
