What are possible meanings for dreams of cliffs?

When you face a metaphorical cliff in your life, it means you face a tough climb, big risk, or important decision. It can mean an obstacle seems insurmountable.

Standing across from someone on the other side of a cliff is the image of division, either within yourself or with another person or group of people. Connection is lacking. Communication is broken. Or it can mean you’ve created the personal distance necessary to feel safe.

Climbing a cliff in a dream can have the same symbolism as “climb the mountain,” meaning you want to “reach the top.” Or it can compare to a perilous situation. One slip-up can lead to disaster. See: Climbing, Disasters

Standing on a cliff edge suggests facing a big difficulty. It can mean living on the edge mentally or emotionally, or being close to taking a plunge into something like depression, illness, or a big decision like marriage or retirement. It can symbolize fear of taking the next step, or being on the verge of giving up.

Being stuck on a cliff can symbolize a situation that isn’t getting any easier. You feel exposed, vulnerable, or abandoned. You need help.

Jumping off a cliff can symbolize taking a risk or making a leap of faith. For an example dream, see: Horse.

Falling off a cliff can symbolize despair or having no control over your life. It can mean you’re in free-fall. See: Abyss

Landing safely and feeling good about it can symbolize a good decision. A bad landing can symbolize a bad decision, or a bad outcome is feared. Your confidence is rattled, so you stand at the edge looking down, unable to act.

Cliffs are further associated with confidence—having it, or not—and thrill-seeking. For example, refusing to climb a cliff or to jump off one can symbolize lack of confidence in your abilities, or doubting where you’re going to end up after taking a risk.

What does this mean? Do I have a choice in my life? Or are we bound by fate?

I dreamt I was in my highschool (about a year before I graduated in 2012) and in the dream I was in our school drop off zone on the inner part if our school where our courtyard would be and I saw all my teachers and students from my classes In my grade and they started attacking me and trying to RIP my clothes off and they stripped me naked and I ran out of my school to the edge of the property and the property dropped off to a huge cliff side that over looked the ocean and there was two rivers of gold running across either side of me and at the edge of the cliff I saw two old men like in their 80s.

One man was wearing a white robe and had black eyes.

The other man had a black robe with white eyes.

I walked up to them and asked them where I was and they just told me it was time for me to choose wisely. And these two bridges raised from the ocean.

One bridge was a heavenly bridge with sunlight and white clouds and white birds flying around it and the bridge was all white. It was next to the man in the white robe.

The other bridge was twisting and moving like it was alive and was decayed and old and monster were crawling all over the bridge and a dark storm hovered over the bridge.

I saw the man with the white robe had black eyes and the man in black had white eyes so I stepped on the evil looking bridge. With the man in black.

I stepped on the bridge and it flung me straight up into the sky bast the dark clouds and into space and I was stripped from my body and was just seeing.

I looked down and saw earth and it started spinning faster and faster and then two red neon light came out of the earth and formed a DNA helix and I started spinning and then I got shocked awake and literally flew out of my bed.

What is this?

I dreamt I was in my highschool (about a year before I graduated in 2012) and in the dream I was in our school drop off zone on the inner part if our school...

Ocelot

Unknown Date

I can’t remember who I was with, but I think it was some of my family. We were skydiving and when we were on the plane we couldn’t see the ground. We all jumped out, but falling took forever. It felt like an hour to fall, but usually, it only takes a few minutes. We finally saw land. There was a road leading to a desert and the right of us was a big cliff. The road was beaten up with cracks and potholes. At the bottom of the big cliff was a giant rain forest and across from it was a rocky wall leading up. Once we got close enough we pulled our parachutes and waited. We were all going to the desert. The wind started to pick up and I got drifted off from my family. I was a lot higher than them because of the wind pushing me up and away. My heart dropped, but calmed down instantly and said “listen to your heart, not your head”. I remember there was a cliff on the other side of the forest so I tried going for that because I didn’t want to land in the rainforest. I got close enough and I couldn’t make it. The only way down was the rainforest. Once I got down it was very warm. It was kind of relaxing. I soon found a tree stand with an empty toolbox. I went up there to stay away from snakes and all that. Once I got up there I noticed an ocelot on the ground looking at me. We both looked at each other and we gained each other’s trust. I went down to pet the ocelot and he started to speak to me. He wasn’t speaking physically but in my head. I could understand him. I can’t remember his voice. I found a map of the place we were at on the rocky cliffside. The title of the map was “The Truth.” He showed me around and once we got deeper into the rainforest people were working. I can’t remember what they were working on, but they looked like businessmen and women walking around doing work that wasn’t business work. It was like they were slaves and had no control. The ocelot said to me “that’s what reality is”. One man that was working was trying to get me to work, but I refused. We both walked off and I remember on the map there was a spot that has red leaves and was in a circle. I found the place I remembered about 5 minutes away from the workplace. The ocelot looked worried and I asked “what’s wrong” and he said, “no one had made it this far. The ones who’ve didn’t make it are stuck in the trap back there”. We got to the place and it was beautiful. It had tall trees with red leaves surrounding the shallow water in the middle. The red leaves were floating on top of the water. In the middle was a golden man floating and meditating. I walked closer and stared at the man for a few minutes. I looked around and the ocelot was gone. I was thinking something was going to happen. This is where I knew I was in a dream so now I was lucid dreaming. I could ask any questions I wanted. So I asked the man “who are you” he said he was a monk”. I then asked “where am I” and then he said, “that’s classified, my friend…”. Then I woke up.

I go to the same dream world every night.

Anyone else?

I can almost map it out. I go there 49/50 times I dream. In fact, one of my first posts to Reddit was 5 years ago trying to get someone to draw the world from my reoccurring dream. (Still on my post history but I post a LOT)

So it was already reoccurring enough 5 years ago to make a “can you draw this” post for it.

Basically it’s a futuristic, retro / steampunk cityscape sprawling down a mountainside on a Mediterranean esque coast. Lots of thin, curving brick roads, brass/copper aesthetics, gothic esque buildings with their first floors open to a public square, and some really tall, gothic spires along the coast. These are red carpet style hotels. Being in the hotels gives me a real waking nostalgia to a different world. There’s also a huge train terminal near the top of town, which from a Birdseye view would look like single metallic parentheses mark. (Open-parentheses if you’re looking at a map and the coast is to the right and mountain top/terminal on the left.)

There’s also the “prehistoric swimming hole” which is just a quick drive down some red mud roads through the jungle. People swim here, it’s really deep and filled with... prehistoric creatures. Huge. Overwhelming sensations to swim with these creatures.

Then further along there’s the beach; turquoise water with huge misshapen rocks jutting out of the water to make for really cool diving / boat exploring. There is also a large island at the far end of the beach connected by a man made sand bar, it has a steep cliff face with a road or two and houses sprinkled on it.

Then the house. It always seems like it’s on the “other side of town” where it’s quieter and maybe a bit less wealthy. On a dark little hill, wooden. But the rooms in it always open up to more rooms. There’s usually a jacuzzi in one of the bedrooms. The houses are always surprisingly big on the inside and super quaint and rustic outside.

Ok. Anyone? Does anyone share my world?

Snake Dream (._.)

I am female btw, with no fears of snakes or reptilians.

The description of the dream is below, any interpretations would help! :D

I was walking to the second floor of my house, where my room is. I wanted to change into my pajamas so I shut the door walked to my bed and was about to undress when I heard the rattle of a snake tail. I backed away stopping what I was doing and took a moment to spot the "rattlesnake" underneath my bed.

I wasn't too scared of it, though I did back away and call my mom to the room to look at it. At this point the scene started to change, the snake now bigger and resembling more of a very large and beautiful boa. ( **it looked a lot like the Boa constrictor sabogae with very dark pronounced spots)**

I spoke up saying "It's a beautiful snake." My "mom" in the dream looked at me weirdly and she faded out of the picture. I got closer to the bed which then turned into a wall of linen cloth with a hole where I could see the snakes head looking at me. I watched as it started to climb upwards out of sight, my room now shifting to resemble a large middle eastern old timey style temple **(thats the best I can describe it.)**

I found myself standing at the top of a wood precipice **(like a stand where a worker would chisel something.)** and looking down at the large open space with open windows, sunlight flooding the palace like room. There were snakes everywhere, on the walls on the windows and many lying about on the floor. I was just watching them wriggle around when I woke up and found myself looking under my bed *just to make sure.*

***So thats that... Any interpretations are welcome, thank you!***
