What are possible meanings for dreams of creatures?

A creature in your dream can symbolize seeing yourself or someone else as different or unusual, even to the point of being sub-human.

It can be an exaggerated way of expressing that someone isn’t acting right.

A creature can symbolize something about yourself you don’t recognize—what is that thing you see in the mirror?

A creature can symbolize something that’s rejected, shunned, repressed, hurt, resentful, aggrieved, or unmanageable. Taking form as a creature is a graphic way for something about yourself to get your attention and show, in an exaggerated way, how you treat yourself or how you feel.

What was a particularly unique dream that you’ve had that you still remember to this day?

For me, I had a nightmare recently, probably back in December, that was inspired by Lovecraft’s stories, for it had the image of a monster in it that reminded me of his works. It was probably something like the Shoggoth, with flashes of probably other Lovecraftian creatures I don’t recall, with the scream of a person who is falling into insanity! I’ll be honest, the dream itself made me afraid that I was going mad myself!

Strange dream last night - chased by a giant hostile Dark Souls boss kind of worm thing. What does it mean?

This dream was in what I like to call “video game perspective” - where I am watching something happen but also controlling a specific “character” in the dream. Sometimes it can feel like this even in first person perspective, where I am somehow disconnected from being the person, even if I am the person, not watching a screen or using a controller.

So in the dream there was this giant worm creature. It wasn’t really a worm, more wormlike, as in it was oblong and had no limbs and wasn’t reptilian enough to be a snake. First it chased me through a corridor (this was in the perspective of a 2d sidescroller video game) trying to I think eat me or at least somehow kill me and I ran from it and it would smash stuff behind me. Sometimes I was really close to being caught by it but I managed to get ahead. Then I got into a chamber place (it was more in first person now) and it was at the bottom of some stairs. When I would go down the stairs there were smaller worm things that would attack me. I felt like I was struggling with fighting the worms and I thought I was not strong or skilled enough to fight the big worm.

When I am awake and I think about the worm it reminds me most of a Dark Souls boss since it was very strong and big and it was sort of eldritch horror-like. Through the whole dream I was scared of the worm and I felt like I was not strong enough to fight it but I was progressing forward anyways. I also was fighting it in some sort of ruin, like ruined stonework everywhere and stuff. The closest I can describe the ruin as is maybe the Arbiter’s Grounds dungeon from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but not as dark.

Dream of a deer skull headed creature showing me objects

I was camping when I had this strange dream around 2 years ago and still remember it clearly as it felt very important:

In the dream I wake up on the tent floor in the morning, and there is a creature standing next to me in the tent wearing a thick coat of feathers that goes down to the ground and a deer skull head. (Note: I felt this was a person dressed like this like a kind of shaman or something, not an actual inhuman creature)

I am not scared and have a sudden feeling of greatfulness and respect, as if it's an honour to be visited by this man/creature. He doesn't say a word but hands me 3 objects:
- A piece of deer antler,
- A human hand (real hand, but no blood)
- A quartz crystal.
In the dream I remember I understood the meanings, but when I woke up all I could remember was that the deer antler represented something good, the human hand something bad, and the quartz a sort of neutral balance.

Then he left and I woke up for real in the tent

I have been trying to figure out the object symbolism but no success

The dream that makes me certain that this world is a simulation

About 20 years ago, maybe a little less, I had an extremely vivid dream, and I would call it a lucid dream but for the apparent lack of control over the content I had.

I came to awareness while pulling my face away from this table-like thing that looked like a window that was pointed down and it was about the size and shape of a snooker table. Recessed below the top and everything. My hands, which I failed to get a good look at, were planted on the edge of the table, where I was pushing against it. As I said, it looked like a window and I could see the Earth far below as if I were in a spaceship in orbit. There was a great resistance to me pulling my face away from this, portal, you might call it. As if it were trying to suck me back in. I was in a room that was all white and had long vertical panels along with a white ceiling where all the light was coming from.

I turned my head to the right and saw what had the appearance of a typical grey alien you see in popular media. But this creature was laughing at me, and it had the same personality, even spirt and soul, as my father. I recognized him even though he looked completely different with this alien body. And the Laughing was not vocal, but was telepathic, more of a Rippling vibration communicating mirth. He said, (again, telepathically) "It's a bit much for you, huh?" and laughed again. All this while I'm straining to keep my head away from the portal. And I felt no "otherness" about him. In other words, I was of the base assumption that he and I were the same sort of being. There was no surprise in me to see the one I know as my dad in this life as this lifeform.

Just after that, I lost the struggle, and my head was pulled back to the portal and it felt like my face was being submerged in lukewarm water. Immediately, I woke up, experiencing no gap in lucidity. I just stared at the ceiling, horrified for the moment at what I had just experienced.

My alien dad was spot-on. I was going through a period Of deep depression and was desperate to escape my life. Suicide was not an option for me for reasons that I won't go into here, but suffice it to say say they are not the typical moral reasons.

As a last note, my depression was mostly cured in 2016, and completely cured as of July 18 of last year. So don't trouble yourselves to wish me well for that 😁
