What are possible meanings for dreams of dungeons?

A dungeon in a dream can be a graphic, albeit exaggerated, way of representing the feeling of being trapped in a bleak situation. “My life is a dungeon” and “I work in a dungeon” don’t mean you actually live or work in a dungeon, but it feels that way—dark, dreary, confining, hopeless.

For example, a woman dreams about a lion trapped in a dungeon. It tries to go up some stairs and past an iron gate, but is pushed back down and tumbles to the bottom. The dream symbolizes her situation at work. She works in customer service, the lowest level in the corporate hierarchy. She wants to rise to a higher position, symbolized as going up the stairs, but her attempts have been rebuffed by the management, symbolized as falling down the stairs. Like a lion she is proud and confident, and like a lion in a dungeon she is trapped. The iron gate symbolizes the inflexible corporate structure she faces in trying to advance.

Because dungeons are associated with places deep inside another structure, they can symbolize the subconscious or the unconscious mind. They too are structures of the psyche nestled within larger structures. And if they’re characterized as a dungeon, it implies the need to bring light into your mind and be aware of everything you are inside. It could be a way of saying that your mind is a bleak place!

Dungeons are associated with punishment and hopelessness, so if you dream about a dungeon you might feel like you’re being punished or can’t escape a hopeless situation. See: Torturing

Dungeons can have specific symbolism listed here, or connect with the symbolism of a jail, hostage, or prisoner, or feelings such as guilt.

Strange dream, would like others interpretations. A portion of it is reoccurring, but only one portion.

In the dream, I lived in many different houses that were all connected as one, like in a timeline sense. I’d be in one house, then walk into a room and be in the next house in the future. Like a weird movie transition.

Ones that were luxurious with balcony pools and beautiful scenery. I can remember taking a selfie, or at least trying, I had long brown hair, I was in the pool topless, and I was trying to get the background which was the ocean with this crazy island in it. Maybe I was high up?

I think I lived with my mom? Her and I don’t talk, we don’t get along and never will. We didn’t even get along in the dream, she was mad I was taking topless selfies. I can’t remember my bedroom, I know it was connected to balcony pool I was in. I remember the downstairs was completely open concept with high ceilings, the only semi-closed off area was a cube in the center where the kitchen was. Marble dishware on the table.

Then another house that had 3 other families and I was showing the new girl around, but when we got to my room in the attic someone was rearranging my stuff. I wasn’t mad though, and he asked me if there was a good table for Dungeons and Dragons. I got excited about that.

We ran through and suddenly I was explaining how there was a copy of a strip mall from Vegas in our house and all the employees lived there, they cater to me and the people I live with, and the new girl I was giving the house tour to was actually the new guy I was seeing? Also Ryan and Shane from Buzzfeed Unsolved were at this mall just chillin, not relevant but brought me joy; Team Boogara.

We walked through, looking at the store windows, eating food samples, and looking at other people. He eventually disappeared and I was walking through alone.

Then toward the end, I went to this room that you pray in filled with bamboo, looked down to pray, looked up in the mirror, and I had short nearly-white blonde hair up in a ponytail, and I smiled at myself.

I ran out, dropped some mochi, an auntie (I kept calling her auntie auntie and telling her not to bend over because she would hurt herself) helped me and so did her son, and then I threw away the mochi, turned around, and woke up.

If I remember more details I’ll come back. I know I’ve dreamt about the Vegas-strip-part-of-the-house before. I can’t remember the original though. That’s why I knew what the pray room was.

I remember thrifting with some girls at a high end thrift store, because they liked my opinions and advice. I don’t remember what part of the dream that was. The employees even asked me for thoughts on things. I got distracted by the stuff in the cases a lot. I remember seeing knives with decorative ceramic handles, like a teapot.

Dream that I had when I asked my subconscious what I really wanted to be.(As in ANYTHING)

The dream started with me in a Minecraft world trying to survive in my epic base. I was Minecraft Steve with a white hoodie btw. Then Sora, Anna and the beast from Kingdom hearts appear out of nowhere and started exploring my base. I decided to build some wooden tools even tho my base is epic, I should have had a full diamond set by now. The beast asked me what I was doing and I then told him what the tools where for.

Then the dream switched to me going on a forum and searching how I could exploit the moonlight in the game to mine chunks of diamonds. Some guy posted a solution but the pics he sent where not loading. I tried loading it many times and eventually they loaded. But they weren't the pics that I hoped for. They were pornographic pics of an Indian pornographic film. I then got horny, decided to watch the movie and faped to it. The plot was about Indian female employees getting molested by their boss. Pretty gross right?

For some reason in between the movie, I remembered the question I asked to my subconscious and another movie appeared in front of me. It was about two warriors with armor that looked like a mix between Cobra's mask(the silver one) from G.I. Joe, a ''frost helmet'' from a game on Roblox called *Dungeon Quest* and King Arthur's armor from Sonic and the black knight. They had big swords that had this kind of mix too. The plot of this movie is that they needed to kill a wizard who uses a demon to control his people. At the end of the movie, the heroes remove their masks to reveal two old men on their 40's. That somehow felt like an element of comedy even though they said nothing.

Eventually it returned to me masturbating at the indian movie but I was in a church with big window and theater in front. I couldn't fap because my sister walked in. Then she got out of the room and I started again. But I hid myself from some old man because I didn't want him to see me. At some point I just stopped because I wouldn't ejaculate. I looked around for other SFW films and found one documentary about kaijus.

But the dream abruptly ended with me running away from my mom with my ''brothers'' because I was about to get butt slapped.

Really bizarre dream I don’t know how to interpret

I was in a supermarket in Beijing and I walked into a restaurant. There was an old wooden door at the back that looked really out of place, so I went inside and saw a narrow dungeon corridor with dried blood and hay everywhere. There were metal cells with horses in them, but the horses had no eyes, just bloody holes where their eyes should have been. Further down there was a big room that looked like a barn with two lines of people standing parallel to each other. Their eyes were also ripped out so they couldn’t see me walk in but they heard me and thought I was one of the horses. One of the men expressed how sorry he felt for the horse because horses don’t know how to kill themselves.

I went outside the dungeon barn and there were very fat birds who also had bleeding holes for eyes trying to fly away from the hawks but they couldn’t support their weight. The hawks were small but they could carry the fat birds away and rip out more of their eyes.

When I went back inside the dungeon barn, all the people were frantically trying to kill themselves for some reason. A woman was grinding her head on a wire fence, making her head shred like a cheese grater and some boys were happily jumping of the second floor and dying as if it was a game. A priest encouraged the others to do the same before instantly dying. Then I woke up.

I’m not depressed at all and didn’t interpret the dream as a nightmare so does anyone know wtf this was?

Found a lost dog (lot of strange symbolism)

Had a dream last night I am having trouble interpreting. I am usually pretty good at it through self awareness, reflection and dream dictionaries but I can't find anything that particularly pertains to the subject of my dream. There is a lot of weird symbolism I can't figure out.

It was dusk and I was out on the front lawn of my childhood home with my brother. I dream about my childhood home and grandmother's home a lot so nothing really odd about that, and I recently passed by it while going for a walk with my girlfriend a few weeks ago when visiting my parents (it is in a different city) so maybe that has something to do with it. A lost dog then came by, wandering around people's front lawns. I grabbed him by collar and brought him over to read the collar and it had an address, which I believe was 71 Selwick Dr or something along those lines. The name and number were not significant to me, but I didn't recognize the street name in the area, though my brother did. He said it is not that far and pointed in the direction of what is in real life a dead end Crt street adjacent to ours (but was not dead end in the dream). We looked up the address online and tried to call, and found out somehow the name of the person who lived there but could not get a hold of them. They were apparently a veterinarian. I told my brother I would take the dog home and started off. The dream then took a nightmarish feel from this point on. For context, the dog was a mix breed about the size of a labrador retriever but was multi coloured, salt and pepper body, whitish head and black ears.

It was getting dark and most of the houses looked creepy and unfamiliar. Some were run down and boarded up. Some were just plain fucked, and I could see inside the windows and they looked like a torture dungeon with flickering red lights. There were dead dog and puppy torsos cut in half hanging from lamp posts, and cat/kitten torsos hanging from wires across the street. We were walking kind of slowly because the dog was kind of slow, and it was hard leaning over and trying to lead him by his collar. He seemed pretty nice and tame and fairly nonchalant. We made it to the next street over and got a bit lost. I had to check my Google maps a few times to find the way. We crossed a road and were almost hit by a car. I remember a black woman and her two small kids driving, and all 3 of them were fighting for control of the wheel. Not sure if that is significant. I passed another house and about 20 dalmations in red collars came running out of the garage down the driveway and I had to hold the dog I was with firmly so he didn't run towards them excitedly.

We continued on and the streets kept getting more narrow and strange. It felt like we were walking for 30-40 minutes at this point and I remember thinking that I couldn't believe the dog walked this far on his own. We then got to an area that I can only describe looked like an underground close in medieval Edinburgh, like winding narrow stone walls in tunnels with random house doorways in the walls, clothes hanging over the streets (which were only about 4 feet wide, only suitable for foot traffic) and stone steps around the sides that I walked up and down to avoid others on the street. I passed another house and another group of about 20 dalmations in red collars came out and walked down the street but this time they were all puppies. Then some Hare Krishna looking group of 4 or 5 people came walking down the street in robes banging symbols which was incredibly loud due to the narrow stone tunnel we were in. The dog got startled a bit. We then came to a right turn which I believe was the street the owner lived on but we had to climb down a half height stone wall just to get to a lower level where the street was on and again I wondered how the dog got through all of this and ended up near my old house. I checked my phone again to see if we were close but my phone did not work in the underground stone tunnels but I felt I was close and could find the rest of my way without it. I then woke up without having finished my "goal" in the dream.

I know dogs are supposed to represent loyalty and friendship, and different colored dogs represent different things, but the fact that the dog was multicolored and he was not my dog, and I was trying to help him get home while seeing all of these other strange things in the dream that I felt significant, I can't really peace together what it all means as a whole. Any input would be greatly appreciated as it left me feeling odd and uneasy for a while after waking up.

What does it mean?

Female, 29. Last night I dreamt I slowly and methodically swalled eleven dice. All of the dice were of different shapes, like a set for dungeons and dragons, but there were shapes I'd never seen before. When I picked up number twelve, it grew to the size of a Rubick's cube and I couldn't get it in my mouth. I stared forlornly at the thirteenth die, which I knew I could not swallow because they had to be in the proper order. The thirteenth die was a dragonball with devil horns, smaller than a standard marble, and would have gone down so easily, if only I could have made it past the twelfth. I woke up with a tummy ache.

Any thoughts?
