Look for the differences

The DreamWell dictionary provides information on how each dream symbol appears in dreams in general. Finding how experience eyes in dreams can be a key to understanding its meaning.

Return to the feelings

Our emotions in dreams can help us understand its meaning. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream. Pay attention to how you feel about eyes in dreams. See how you feel about eyes now, in your waking life.

What are possible meanings for dreams of eyes?

When you decode the importance of a body part in a dream, begin with what it does. Eyes see, and another word for see is “vision.” Vision can be meant in the sense of “vision for my life” or “tunnel vision.” A dream that draws attention to eyes can speak to awareness or perspective—of yourself, of a situation, of a problem—and to what you notice. It’s a physical representation of a personal situation.

Seeing can mean “see the answer,” or “see the truth.” “Both eyes open” means “aware.” Seeing can mean perceive, as in “see things my way.” You can “keep your eyes peeled,” or “have an eye for art.” Something can be “eye-catching,” or an “eye-opener.” These figurative uses of eyes and sight are popular ways for dreams to create symbolism.

The symbolism of eyes and sight is often shown through actions. For example, covering the eyes can symbolize “see no evil.” It can symbolize lack of giving attention, or something is preventing you from seeing in the figurative sense.

Being unable to look someone in the eyes can indicate shame, guilt, or dishonesty. It can indicate something to hide.

Worms or bugs crawling out of the eyes can symbolize viewing something that makes you squirm, or that worms into your brain, such as brutal horror movies or scat porn. The same symbolism can be created through the action of plucking out an eye or deliberately blinding yourself. It means you’ve seen something that you’d rather not see, or that’s harmful.

Eyes are associated with attention. When something has your attention, you keep your eyes on it, such as the value of a stock, the behavior of a person, the ball, or the approach of a special day.

Eyes are known as the “windows of the soul” because of how they’re identified with the uniqueness of each person. Looking at someone in the eyes can symbolize getting a read on the person, trying to ascertain true character and intentions. It can indicate a special emotional or spiritual connection. If a dream character is a surrogate for someone you know, you can often tell because of the eyes.

It is said that the eyes give away the identity of the soul within.

Windows of a home can symbolize eyes when the home represents the body or mind. Windows are used to see through, and so are eyes. A window can symbolize perspective or point of view, the way you “see” things.

The symbolism of eyes missing can connect with inability to see from someone else’s perspective—a specific person, or just in the sense of “see no perspective but your own.”

Both eyes are missing can mean you don’t really know who you are, or alternately, you don’t really know someone in your life. Or something is askew with your perception or perspective. See: Blindness

One eye missing can symbolize not seeing the whole situation, or only giving half your attention.

The color of eyes can coincide with emotion. See: Colors

Eyes colored black are associated with the unconscious mind. When you look into the eyes of a character with black eyes, you might be looking into your inner depths and the mystery of your existence. The price of entry to the unconscious is that you must take the hardest sort of look at yourself and embrace it all.

On the other hand, black eyes can symbolize lacking soul or depth. You can tell the difference between meanings by how you react.

A “black eye,” the bruised area beneath the eye, is a classic mark of dishonor or shame.

Left and right in dreams can have meaning. Left is related to creativity, and right is related to logic, so closing the left eye can mean something related to creativity is missing or undervalued, and closing the right eye—or plucking it out, or a wound it, or blindness—can mean something related to logic is missing or undervalued. Left can mean “wrong,” or “unconventional,” and right can mean “correct,” or “orthodox.” See: Rightness

Take note of discrepancies with reality, such as dreaming that you can see despite having no eyes, or they’re covered. It’s a sure sign of symbolism.

Pupils in a dream can be a wordplay on the definition of pupil meaning “student.” For example, a teacher on maternity leave dreams that she sees a doctor and her pupils are missing. It symbolizes that she misses her students. The pupil of the eye allows in light, and light can symbolize knowledge. They’re the gateway to inner life.

Eyes that are all color, no pupil, can symbolize seeing from within you, from your inner being or depths. It’s a theme that arises particularly in people who have a spiritual outlook or women who are pregnant.

Dreaming while awake?

These past few days, it has come to my attention that I tend to dream while being awake. For example, I could be lying in bed with my eyes closed, not asleep, and a few minutes later I begin to vividly see a string of events before my eyes.

They are not memories, it is randomized such as a dream would be. I usually have to snap myself out of it once I become aware that I am...dreaming? I do not do anything to trigger this. It just happens. I even noticed that I have been waking up mid conversation or mid thought. But that is irrelevant.

Is that even a possibility? If not then, what exactly is this that I am experiencing?

My aunt that passed away came to say her last goodbye in my dream

So a week ago my aunt passed away after fighting two months in a coma, cause my pneumonia. I can’t say I’m sad and I haven’t mourned her passing like most people. I am a spiritual person, so I believe she’s gone home, back into the totality of the universe, where we all come from. More than anything I’m just grateful I had the privilege to get to know here and love her, especially because she took care of me all the time I went to visit.

I wasn’t able to attend her burial ceremony, since I don’t live in the same country as her. But I’ve definitely been thinking of her the past days and all the great memories we made over the years.

Two nights ago, in a dream, I appeared at her house. I am aware she passed away so I go look for my uncle (her husband). I find him inside his room and I give him a strong hug and I tell him, “I’m so sorry for what happened, I love so much uncle.”

Then I walk outside the house onto the patio. My phone began to ring, and I pick up. On the other end somebody asks me about a friend like, “What did Mike say?” At that point I’m confused, and I as I tried to talk I say, “hello, anybody there?” No response, only noise so I hang up.

As I ended the call I see my aunt walking out from inside the house with a container filled with dishes or clothing. She walks pass me and says, “Hi son, I’ll be right there with you in a sec.” At that moment, I’m shocked, I look at my mom and ask, “does she know?” Referring if my aunt knows what happened to her and that she’ll depart this reality. My mom replies, “yes she does.”

Also I must mentioned that her body was beginning to turn like black matter. It looked like black roots had began covering her body from here feet, kinda like the roots of a tree. Only that the roots where coming from the ground.

A little while later I see my aunt in the kitchen, and my mom calls me in and tells me my aunt is ready to see me. At that point I’m a little scared and nervous. So I walk into the kitchen and I make I contact with my aunt. She looks at me and ask, “Son, do you love me.” I replied, “of course, I have always loved you and I will always love you. No matter what happens or where you go, I will forever love you.” And then I tell her, “don’t worry, now you have become pure love, the strongest energy there is in the universe.” I hug her and she starts crying. At this point my aunt has three eyes, the third eyes in the middle of her forehead.

It was so intense, it felt so real. Shortly after I wake up, and my heart is racing.

I really don’t know what her having a thirdeyese meant. But I feel like she did visit me on the dream state, the astral dimension. I strongly believe she came to say her last goodbyes.

Not sure if anyone has such experiences before. I’d be interested to hear your take on this and what you think it meant.

Thanks for reading.

Does anyone ever have a dream that just seems so normal? Like you can't tell it from your everyday life?

Context: my old phone was dying recently. Would only charge with my dad's charger for some reason, so he would charge his phone each night, then take my phone and plug it into his charger and let it charge through the night. This went on until the phone finally went out for good. (And yes, this info is necessary for the story).

A few nights ago I had a dream where I kept getting up in the night to make sure my phone was charging. That's it. That was the whole dream. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. I got up a few times to see if my phone was actually charging because it had been charging extremely slowly for some reason.

32%, 50%, 63%... Every once in a while when I checked in the dream.

Then in the dream, I finally closed my eyes to get some sleep. Woke up back in the real world and my phone was at 2%, not almost full, like it had been.

To be honest, I'm not even sure if it was a dream that I had where I did this. I don't actually dream all that often. And if it was, why would I dream about checking to make sure my cell phone was charging of all things?

Have you ever had a dream where you fell in love with a stranger?

As the title suggests, I just woke up after experiencing this and feel very weird.

In my dream I was in a mall type of thing at night and this stunning japanese woman bumped into me asking if I had the time. I said yes and continued walking around this mall. A little later I found a huge set of stairs and slid all the way to the bottom on the railings.

At the bottom of the stairs, the girl from earlier was there and timidly asked me if I wanted to grab some food with her. I said yes immediately.

I then remember spending some time talking to her about random stuff, but finding her more and more interesting and attractive. Her friends were cool and played in a weird funk-metal kind of band and asked if I wanted to be involved.

After talking she asked if I wouldn’t mind walking her up to apartment as it was super late. I of course obliged and went with her. After arriving she invited me in and I remember her place being absolutely huge and overlooking whatever city this dream was supposed to be in.

We talked some more about what her future plans were and how similar our goals were. It got to the point where we were close and kissing and eventually slept together. I just remember there being this weird warmth in my chest whilst this happening, and it felt like nothing I had experienced before.

After waking up from this, I feel almost hollow and honestly kind of depressed. I can still remember how she smelt and how I felt when she looked me in the eyes.

The fucked up part of this is that I’ve been dating someone for the past 6 months or so, and after this dream, dare I say that I feel less close to her?

Has anyone else experienced something like this? What does it mean? Is it my mind telling the girl I’m with isn’t the right one for me? I’m so confused.

Vivid Trump nightmare last night woke me up this morning, and now the news that just broke is terrifying me.

I woke up before 4 a.m. this morning because I had an ultra vivid dream in which I had the birds eye view to bombs being dropped under President Trump’s directive.

He said he would make the earth a new moon, meaning he would make new craters on the earth’s surface to make the planet resemble the moon. He was retaliating against something... I couldn’t do anything but watch the bombs fall as if I were sitting in the plane staring out from its underbelly.

In the later half of the dream, I was running with a hoard of others, many injured, a lot of amputees, a lot of burn victims, many crawling all of us together running from some blast zone. The women next to me kept shaking her hands while she crawled because the burns on them made it hard for her to pull herself along.

Many we passed were lying in pieces. Everybody was shuffling together at once. It was so horrific I woke up and didn’t go back to sleep for hours.

Hoping to sleep tight tonight, but not at all optimistic.
