What are possible meanings for dreams of phones?

Phones serve many functions and have many uses, and in dreams they have a wide variety of possibilities for symbolism and meaning.

The first function to consider is that phones are used to communicate. Being on the phone with someone can symbolize expression of your feelings and thoughts. Dreaming about wanting to phone someone can mean you want to say or express something to that person. The idea can be used to express the desire to know what that person feels and thinks about you or some situation. See: Speaking

The symbolism often arises in connection with romantic relationships and possibilities for them. For example, wanting to phone a romantic interest in a dream occurs after the dreamer has dropped hints about being interested in dating a certain person but has not received a reply. The dream is simply a reflection of the dreamer’s thoughts about calling the person and being more direct.

Wanting to phone an ex in a dream occurs as the dreamer has thoughts about getting back together. A call to an ex that goes to voice mail symbolizes the mixed signals the ex is giving about getting back together. See: Former partners

A phone dropping the call or malfunctioning is a classic sign of symbolism for communication problems. In this sense, connection means personal connection, and if the phone doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to, it can mean that a personal connection is lost or fails to establish. It can express the feeling that something is wrong with the relationship or the person.

A bad signal can symbolize that you’re not getting your point across, or feel that someone isn’t really listening. Someone ignoring you on the phone, either by avoiding the call or not responding during the conversation, can express the feeling that the person is ignoring you or not meeting your needs.

Modern phones have uses that go beyond basic communication. For one, they can contain a lot of personal information. Someone going through your phone can symbolize privacy invasion or fear of exposure. For example, people cheating in a relationship are sometimes exposed because their mates find incriminating evidence on their phones.

Losing your phone can symbolize the loss of something important to you. Branch out to consider any type of loss of something important: of a relationship, of opportunity, of personal identity, of face. Such as in a dream about losing a phone after someone has lost a job. The phone is used to mean the job.

Modern phones are used for getting information through the internet, keeping track of appointments, and playing games, and dreams can start there and potentially branch out in many directions. For more ideas along this line, see: Computer.

Phones can be a huge distraction, and can symbolize being ignored or inattentive. A person using a phone is distracted, and this idea is used in dreams to symbolize situations and feelings related to not getting the attention you want. Dreams can project aspects of yourself onto dream characters, so keep in mind that what you see in a dream character may actually be what you see in yourself.

For example, a mother dreams about being at a park with her child as other mothers and children play. She notices that one of the children is walking quickly toward a busy street, and its mother doesn’t notice because her attention is consumed by her phone. The dreamer yells at the mother to get her child, and the mother, when she notices what’s happening, jumps up and rescues her child. She apologizes, saying that she hates her phone sometimes because she constantly feels the need to engage with it.

It would be easy to assume that the dream character represents someone the dreamer knows or a specific situation she observed, but the dream is actually pointing out the mother’s own distractions with her phone. She’s careful about using it while driving and is conscious of staying off it during family time. However, it’s still a distraction, and the statement at the end of the dream about needing to be engaged with it is actually how the mother feels. Maintaining her social and business relationships requires her to be on the phone more than she wants to be.

A phone call can symbolize the process of communication between areas of the mind and between the mind and body while dreaming. Dreaming is well known in neurology for facilitating communication between areas of the brain. See: Letters

i need help

hey so I am wondering if anyone else has this or if anyone has advice for this so whenever I have a dream like 90% of the time it comes true I know right that sounds crazy but ill give you a few times this has happened.

1) if anyone remembers that tragic shooting in Florida back on February 14 2018 well I'm British and one night I had a horrible nightmare about a school shooting but not the shooting part I was sat under a desk in lock down position then I was pulled awake by a notification on my phone I was sleepy as well as terrified I looked at my phone the notification was from that news app about the Florida shooting.

2) one that strikes closer to home and one that im still trying to rationalise to myself is the Manchester attack no matter where you live you probably know about this and what a fucking horrible situation this is anyway the very night before I had a dream about a terrorist attack at a Katy perry concert I know this isn't the same artist but here is the bit that sticks with me in my dream I was watching the news and the death count in my dream was exact and the death toll wasn't released for another 3 days.

3) another less scary yet still strange dream was the death of Steven Hawkins I had this dream then the next day I asked my brother if Hawkins was dead we looked it up and nothing came up so we just continued on with our lives then it couldn't have been more than three days and the tragic death of Steven Hawkins was on the news

these are just three examples that are the first that came to my head there are more like the little ones where I have a dream conversation with someone and then have that exact conversation a few days later or once I had a dream that my neighbours had a party with loud music and it pissed my mum off then what do you know that happened.

obviously this isn't the worst thing on this page but its still scary and if anyone knows what this is or just can relate as everyone who ive told either thought Im mental or lying thank you for reading this thank you

hey so I am wondering if anyone else has this or if anyone has advice for this so whenever I have a dream like 90% of the time it comes true I know right that...

My aunt that passed away came to say her last goodbye in my dream

So a week ago my aunt passed away after fighting two months in a coma, cause my pneumonia. I can’t say I’m sad and I haven’t mourned her passing like most people. I am a spiritual person, so I believe she’s gone home, back into the totality of the universe, where we all come from. More than anything I’m just grateful I had the privilege to get to know here and love her, especially because she took care of me all the time I went to visit.

I wasn’t able to attend her burial ceremony, since I don’t live in the same country as her. But I’ve definitely been thinking of her the past days and all the great memories we made over the years.

Two nights ago, in a dream, I appeared at her house. I am aware she passed away so I go look for my uncle (her husband). I find him inside his room and I give him a strong hug and I tell him, “I’m so sorry for what happened, I love so much uncle.”

Then I walk outside the house onto the patio. My phone began to ring, and I pick up. On the other end somebody asks me about a friend like, “What did Mike say?” At that point I’m confused, and I as I tried to talk I say, “hello, anybody there?” No response, only noise so I hang up.

As I ended the call I see my aunt walking out from inside the house with a container filled with dishes or clothing. She walks pass me and says, “Hi son, I’ll be right there with you in a sec.” At that moment, I’m shocked, I look at my mom and ask, “does she know?” Referring if my aunt knows what happened to her and that she’ll depart this reality. My mom replies, “yes she does.”

Also I must mentioned that her body was beginning to turn like black matter. It looked like black roots had began covering her body from here feet, kinda like the roots of a tree. Only that the roots where coming from the ground.

A little while later I see my aunt in the kitchen, and my mom calls me in and tells me my aunt is ready to see me. At that point I’m a little scared and nervous. So I walk into the kitchen and I make I contact with my aunt. She looks at me and ask, “Son, do you love me.” I replied, “of course, I have always loved you and I will always love you. No matter what happens or where you go, I will forever love you.” And then I tell her, “don’t worry, now you have become pure love, the strongest energy there is in the universe.” I hug her and she starts crying. At this point my aunt has three eyes, the third eye in the middle of her forehead.

It was so intense, it felt so real. Shortly after I wake up, and my heart is racing.

I really don’t know what her having a third eye meant. But I feel like she did visit me on the dream state, the astral dimension. I strongly believe she came to say her last goodbyes.

————————

Not sure if anyone has such experiences before. I’d be interested to hear your take on this and what you think it meant.

Thanks for reading.

Does anyone ever have a dream that just seems so normal? Like you can't tell it from your everyday life?

Context: my old phone was dying recently. Would only charge with my dad's charger for some reason, so he would charge his phone each night, then take my phone and plug it into his charger and let it charge through the night. This went on until the phone finally went out for good. (And yes, this info is necessary for the story).

A few nights ago I had a dream where I kept getting up in the night to make sure my phone was charging. That's it. That was the whole dream. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. I got up a few times to see if my phone was actually charging because it had been charging extremely slowly for some reason.

32%, 50%, 63%... Every once in a while when I checked in the dream.

Then in the dream, I finally closed my eyes to get some sleep. Woke up back in the real world and my phone was at 2%, not almost full, like it had been.

To be honest, I'm not even sure if it was a dream that I had where I did this. I don't actually dream all that often. And if it was, why would I dream about checking to make sure my cell phone was charging of all things?

I had a crush on a girl 32 year ago. I never told her that I had a crush on her.

I haven't thought about her 32 years.

Last night, I had a dream. She was pushing a stroller to a park and complaining to other moms that I didn't help out with changing diapers. I was running around with other people playing football, but I still heard what she said.

Against my better judgement, I looked her up online this morning.

I was beyond shocked and sat in front of my computer motionless for almost half an hour or longer. I felt no air in my lungs and it was as if my body forgot how to breathe...

I found out that she had just passed away 11 days ago. There was an obituary from her family as well. Not really sure why, but I called her phone number from 32 years ago. The number was her parent's house from back then. A man picked up. It turned out to be her brother. He and his family now lives in that house. I told him who I was and he remembered me.

As I started telling him about my dream from last night, he became very quiet and said nothing for several minutes. I thought line had gone dead, but it turned out that he was crying. What he said next shocked me to my core... He said "did you know that she also had a major crush on you back then?" and "a couple weeks before she died, she said she was still in love with you and she really wanted to see you one last time, but we didn't know how to get in contact with you"....

I feel all the energy drained out of me. My entire body feels like it was injected with pure sadness that no words could describe.

Please analyze my dream. It has been bothering me so much not knowing..

I'm sinking in water and yelling my partner's name as loud as I can but no sound comes out. He doesn't hear me and he's walking away with his mom and they are looking at their phones.

I am 29 Female. ISFJ personality type. As for my ethnicity, I am Caucasian, Cherokee and Mexican.

(We moved in with my mother in law a few months ago and I believe they might be playing PokemonGo on their phones as they are walking away. It's their thing.)

Not sure if it will help but I have chronic anxiety and living here at my mother in law's house has been very difficult for me. I have no privacy, I can't find comfort here at all even in our room with the door shut. Being uncomfortable is a huge trigger to my anxiety. So long story short, I am not happy. I tell my partner often that certain things about living here that make me unhappy but I don't fully explain things in detail.

Why can't I call out? I had no voice besides a very faint squeak when I tried yelling his name. I'm not sure if I ever made it out of the water because I woke up after this. Why was his mom there? Where did this water come from and how did I end up in it? Why was I unable to swim to the dock where they were at?

I have so many questions.. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
