What are possible meanings for dreams of floating?

Floating in air or water implies relaxation and lack of worry. However, put the action of floating into the larger context of the dream and how you feel about the scenario.

If you float in a raft down a lazy river and feel at peace, the symbolism is more likely to relate to relaxation and enjoying your life. It can indicate there is no need to rush. You are at ease. But if you float atop debris on a flooded river and feel anxious or overwhelmed, it can symbolize being overwhelmed by emotions or content arising from your deep mind, the unconscious. There is something inside you that needs to find expression in your life. It cannot be held back any longer. See: Erupting

Floating implies you are not determining the direction in which your life is going. As symbolism it can express the same idea in the phrase “go wherever the wind blows.” It can mean you are undecided or need to think about where you are headed in life.

Floating through the air can symbolize the high experienced from drugs such as opioids and cannabis, or the desire to disconnect the mind from the body. When dreams use this meaning of the symbolism it is accompanied often by your deliberately trying to disconnect from the ground. The meaning is found in the term “get high.” Look at it literally. If you “get high,” how do you get there? You disconnect from the ground. You float away. Your body is numb and you no longer really feel it. See: Drugs

Floating can symbolize the idea in the phrase “head in the clouds.” It can symbolize daydreaming. In which case, floating is a visual pun, a physical representation.

Floating can symbolize gaining a different perspective. If you’re off the ground it can mean you are gaining a higher perspective. See: Balloons

What does it mean to have a dream within a dream?

I had a dream within a dream, a dream where there was a rainbow, and some kids had entered into the rainbow, while other kids stayed. When I had awakened –while still yet dreaming– my mom was telling me about her dream of seeing a rainbow, which suddenly made me remember my own dream that I had. I told her the dream, I told her that above the rainbow, there seem to be a dark overcast of clouds in the sky, but just below the clouds (yet still floating in the sky) was a Kaaba, and below the Kaaba was the rainbow. Me and my mom had an argument of sorts about the dream I had, I told her the rainbow consisted of many colors, like yellow, green, and orange; and the kids–who were muslim–would enter each color. Some kids went forward into the rainbow, while other kids stayed standing there. Me and her were discussing the Kaaba in the sky and why it was there (I think the Kaaba was abducting the kids who entered the rainbow) I think it was part of the end times, as though the kids who entered the rainbow were getting raptured. Yet (since me and her are both Christian) why wasn't it all Christian imagery, why was the dream showing muslim content? I think that's what we were puzzled about. Yet there, the dream had about ended.

Died in dream but didn’t immediately wake up; experience

Was curious if anyone else has experienced this before and if so, what was it like for you?

Several times I have had this same dream, everything is normal (as normal as a dream can be) and all of a sudden I see a nuke slowly falling towards me. Each time I’ve seen the nuke, I didn’t feel scared, I just said “well, guess it’s time to see what it’s like to die”

The nuke goes off. And all sounds and thoughts dissipate. It goes so quiet, but I don’t wake up.

I can’t see anything, but it’s not dark or light. I can’t move, but it’s not scary, rather contrary. It felt actually blissful. Like a sensation when you take your first sip of wine and ur body gets warm but multiply that sensation by x1000. I could feel like as if I was floating, and smiling, but again no thoughts, no sound. It’s been awhile since I’ve had this dream and I’ve only met one other person who has experienced the same exact thing

How about you guys? Sorry if my wording is bad, but would love to see if you can relate or have a completely different experience

Hi, it’s 3pm now and I’m still kind of paralyzed by this dream pls help understand. Even cats were frightened by the energy this morning. going through some kind of spiritual awakening

So, I woke up with that weird feeling something must be wrong, then I saw that the light was turned on downstairs - I spent the night by myself, my partner decided to spent the night at his workplace. I was kind of scared and wanted to get up to turn it off but then my cat lay down on me to cuddle and I decided to wait until she had enough and would leave. Moments later I realized the light was turned off again!! Our second cat came upstairs and looked very frightened! I got really scared and decided to get up later, that thought seemed to soothe me. I fell asleep, So now what happened in my dream was that weird things would happen in our house, noises, floating objects. In that dream my partner was at home but our home looked a little different and I was trying to scream desperately to show him but there was no sound coming out of my mouth! Then I tried to to film with my phone what was happening but it didn’t work.. Then I heard a very loud buzzing in my ear, which happened quite often lately in wake life but not that intense.. I don’t even know if that buzzing ringing was in my dream or real, I remember screaming and I honestly don’t know if I might have really screamed in “reality”. So, when I was fully awake I got up immediately, going downstairs and realizing the light was turned on - again !!

I’m really confused. As mentioned I’m going through a spiritual awakening but I have no idea what this might have been. Srsly grateful for any thoughts on that. I still feel very drained, energetically tired and can’t seem to let go. It keeps make me feel down .. tried yoga and high vibe meditation.
