What are possible meanings for dreams of castles?
The saying goes that a man’s home is his castle, meaning your home is your domain where you make the rules and defend the boundaries. Based on this idea, your castle in a dream can symbolize a protected space where you rule. A king or queen rules the castle. You rule in your life, your mind, your body.
A castle can be a place of isolation, defended from invaders by tall walls and strong doors. In dreams it can symbolize a defensive mentality. You put up barriers. Perhaps you are emotionally untouchable, or see yourself as separate from or above everybody else. In which case the castle is probably a gloomy and empty place.
On the other hand, a castle can mean you are secure, steady, solid as a rock. It can mean that you have positioned yourself materially or personally in such a way that you can withstand adversity or attack, or you are secure in your personality and interpersonal relations. It suggests power, wealth, prestige, authority, resources, ability.
A castle suggests nobility, high ideals and high expectations for conduct and morals. On the other hand, interpretation depends on the state of the castle. A castle in ruins could mean low morals or unrighteous living.
A ruined castle can mean your dreams and hopes for your life lie in ruin. You’re beaten down, or your world has crumbled around you. Health is worsening—physical, mental, or emotional. Or contradictory feelings or impulses are causing chaos.
A ruined or smoking castle can mean that an authority figure has fallen. The boss was fired. The president was impeached. A burning castle suggests violent overthrow, a coup, or your life or hopes going up in flames. Keep in mind, it’s a physical representation.
Spiritually, a castle can symbolize a strong foundation and rock-solid faith. A tower in a castle is associated with knowledge, especially with esoteric and specialized knowledge.
Psychologically, the castle can represent your psyche, and the characters associated with it represent archetypes. Archetypes are psychological blueprints that shape thoughts and behaviors. In dreams they can take form as mythological characters: kings, queens, knights, wizards, sages, heroes, jesters. It shows that no matter what your outer life is like, your inner one always has potential for high drama.
Dreams with mythological themes can be about the quest to find something worthy of devoting your life to, a higher cause or power. And at heart, these dreams are about unifying the psyche and finding common cause among its various parts. A strong ego is required to unify the disparate parts, but at the same time the ego itself needs to serve something higher. See: Psyches
In simplest terms, a castle is a building. See: Buildings

Nightmare where everything was black - dream help
When the dream starts, I know I'm in a castle. The castle walls are pitch-black, the floors are pitch black, the ceiling was pitch black. Even the sky and ground outside were completely black. I literally couldn't see anything at all, but somehow I knew that everything was actually black and it wasn't just dark.
It was unsettling, but I walked around for a bit. Every once in a while, I'd get a very distinct feeling that if I turned a specific way there was going to be someone waiting to shoot me. I never took any of those paths, so nothing ever happened.
Literally nothing happened at all, just me walking around and hearing my footsteps. That's it. It was the scariest nightmare I've ever had.

A castle submerged under a lake.
Hello all, me again. This time I had a dream of a lake. It was a dark night, the lake was not well lit but I was like a small , idk, artificial lake? Not big but not small either. Anyways, a park lake. One of the park lamps lit it up dimly, an orange red light. The lake had a castle not too different from hogwarts but inside it. Only the peaks of the castle emerged. The rest was underneath and you could hear that it was haunted. Screams and sounds of beasts emerged from it. I ventured down the lake on this bridge to it. Like pier I guess, and I got into the water but immediately my friends warned me there was a creature lurking in the water and to get out, I got as far as seeing the inside walls but it was dark and obscure, so I rush out but the creature had already started chasing me but it stopped when I touched land again. Then suddenly my dream shifts to a house, and then to another dream can’t remember. Normal I guess. But anyways. The castle though. Wow! Lol if y’all see anything of meaning please let me know. Thanks!

Had a dream about dead
So, in my dream, "dad" died, but didn't know who really is my dad, because I wasn't able to see it in my dream, and, in the dream, I started to cry very loud, I had a song from him and sing it very often in that dream, and some kind of incantation, but I don't know for what, the funeral was at a castle, the dream has ended with me and my mom and she said "what do you want?" and I start crying and saying "I want my dad back"
In real life, my dad is alive, what can this dream mean?

Dream I had as a kid.. There was a girl there. I felt such an attraction to her, it was like I loved her and was looking for that my whole life...
It is very frigging weird. I'm 31 now, this probably happened when I was 9-10. All I remember is a castle? And I met her in it and she was the most attractive girl I've ever seen. It was like she was my one true love. I don't know how to explain it. I don't even remember what she looked like..
This dream was so profound I still remember it 20 years later.

Tree-Man (wth is going on)
I feel deeply embarrassed by this dream.
At the beginning on the dream I’m being lead down a long hallway, the type that you would see in a castle on a historical fantasy drama, everything was brick and dimly lit, the sun seemed to be setting. I’m led to a door in the middle of the corridor, and let in.
I walk inside the room and walk around in observance, I’m alone. The room is brick with one wall that is entirely a three panel window and convex, which overlooks a beautiful hilly forest. There is a grey and light teal decorated window seat at the window, with books underneath. I’m not eye-level with the forest, but several stories up looking about midway through the trees. I remember thinking to myself that the view is so beautiful I could probably cry, you don’t see nature like this everyday, uninterrupted by humankind.
After what seems like an hour of admiring the view out of the window I run my fingers along the brick wall and then sit on the bed that’s pushed up against the left hand side of the room just behind the door. The bed is platform style with charcoal and brown bedding.
Sitting on the bed I notice a antique, ornate, cheval mirror on the opposite side of the room and I walk over to look into it. I’m wearing a grey sleep shirt nightgown with white writing on in (an image of a cat with “meow”). My hair is shorter than I usually keep it, reaching mid boob, and it’s down and in its natural unruly state, not quite curly, but too aggressive to be wavy. I’m barefoot and just realizing it.
I go back the the window seat and look through the books, I find my favorite, Pride and Prejudice, and begin to read on the bed. Midway through the first chapter I hear a slight knock at the door and someone enters. He doesn’t announce himself, or introduce himself, and he doesn’t look quite right. The first notable thing about his presence is that he smells like like a hiking trail that’s dense with trees when rain begins to fall; it’s clean, welcoming, and earthy. His hair is wavy and to the top of his shoulders, parted in the middle. He has a a muscular build, but slender and tall, just past 6 ft.
I sit up on the bed, slightly alarmed, but curious as I am naturally with most things; he approaches and it’s clear that he is a tree of sorts. The closer he gets the more I can see that he’s in the shape of a man, but made of tree bits, bark, moss, foliage; but still a man. I find it odd that he’s not wearing clothing, but doesn’t appear naked.
While gathering my knees into my arms, still on the bed, he comes and sits down at the edge. I asked him why he’s there, he says “because you’re here”. He speaks with an accent from the UK or Ireland.
When I fully looked at him I felt a cosmic attraction. He reached out for me and put his hand cupping my neck. I pull away and stand up. Walking to face him on the bed things turn primal. I find myself climbing on top of him, he’s embracing me and “we’re off the the races”. Unlike so many other times during sex it feels so intimate and personal. His love is all consuming and though he wasn’t clothed or naked before he feels bare and oddly soft. We are intertwined for quite some time and end up lying down in each other’s arms. He runs his fingers though my hair and then I woke up.
It’s as if he was right there, I just felt him and I could still smell him. I’ve never had a dream that was so vivid before, where I can recall so much detail and it feels so much like it actually happened, that when I woke up I felt like I was in the wrong place.
I feel deeply embarrassed by this dream.
