Return to the feelings

Our emotions in dreams can help us understand its meaning. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream. Pay attention to how you feel about evil in dreams. See how you feel about evil now, in your waking life.

What are possible meanings for dreams of evil?

Describe evil in simplest terms. It’s wrong. It’s immoral. It’s harmful. Those give you a few ideas to begin your search. Unless you’re dealing with real evil, you know it’s a comparison. Question is, to what?

Evil can be a sort of catch-all term to describe anything bad or even unknown. It’s only presented as evil because of your perceptions. It’s a subjective portrayal, not objective.

For example, a woman dreams several times about an evil shadow chasing her, looming over her like a tidal wave. She can’t get away, and the shadow never shows what it really is or reveals why it’s chasing her. She just reacts with fear at the sight of it and tries to get away.

She begins decoding the symbolism by asking herself what she fears most and how it might connect with what’s pursuing her, and immediately the answer is obvious. She fears being unable to provide for her children. Her work situation is in flux, and money is tight. The possibility of running out of money looms over her. The shadow is perceived as evil, because the thought of failing her children is unfathomable.

Evil can mean fear. Dreams begin with what you fear, then give it a physical representation. It’s an easy connection to make because evil is commonly feared. In this sense, evil is a catch-all. Now consider that evil is often something that you know when you see it, but otherwise it’s intangible, so as a symbol of fear it’s more likely to represent something intangible. For example, fear of spiders and fear of flying are tangible, with a physical source, but fear of failure and fear of the dark are intangible.

Dreaming about something evil can symbolize a situation that feels morally or ethically wrong. It can mean you have come under bad influence. Or you recognize the dark side of someone you know or of a situation.

Or perhaps you recognize something dark about yourself. Repressed, unwanted, and shadowy parts of you can be labeled “evil.” See: Shadows

Evil is an exaggerated way of labeling addictive, immoral, and criminal behaviors.

Think of your associations with evil and ask yourself whether any of them apply to your dream. For example, evil is known for exploitation, abuse, possession, temptation, corruption, and dishonesty. It’s also associated with something out to get you, and with feeling victimized. Any of those associations can be symbolized in a dream as something or someone evil.

And evil is a label applied in some cases to anything that’s unknown or beyond your comprehension.

I had a nightmare about killing my cat and I'm feeling really sad and worried after it. Don't know what it means.

I had a dream that I had a duplicate of my cat living in my house and replacing my cat whenever possible. The duplicate was some sort of an evil spirit or something, you could tell it's the duplicate cause it had one eye white. The duplicate would leave human and cat body parts in places around my house. I literally dreamt that there was a dead cat in a bowl of soup, pieces of human lip skin and tongue cut off of a human and put on the ground. Sometimes my mom would be patting the duplicate while I held my real cat and then I'd yell "mom, that's not (cats name)". The dream ended with me being given a choice to either die by the duplicate cat possessing my cat and killing my family or kill my cat. I begin to go from patting my cat slowly to patting my cat more and more heavily and then it just became hitting and then I woke up in tears and ran to check on my cat.

Here's a long one with layers of meaning to be decoded. It involves murder, if that tickles your fancy.

There is a music festival going on in my front yard. I am with my girlfriend and an ex-friend, who we treat as if she was still our friend. We are walking down the street and decide to go into my neighbor's house and spend the night there. There is only one room open, as if it were a motel. There is nothing in there except a large bed and TV placed in a cabinet. The three of us drop off our bags and go back outside to the festival. It is small, but enjoyable. I spot a group of 20-something year olds under a white tent. They are lounging without a care, surrounded by racks of water balloons. My girlfriend tells me to get a water balloon, so I go up to them. I ask and a woman agrees. She takes one off, then pops it into a large fancy bowl and hands it to me saying, "This is called Dragon Fire Bowl." A guy with her warns her, "Are you sure? Even a drop of that could-" Then he cuts off. The liquid is orange like pop. She encourages me to try some. It tastes amazing! I am addicted to it. I go back to my friends and we retire to the little room. I realized all too late that I finished the drink without sharing.

From here on, the dream cuts like scenes in a movie. It is night. Now I am in my real house watching a concert from my window. It is extravagant, with dancers and bright lights. Suddenly the people who gave me the drink appear in the next room. One of them asks, "Are you feeling ok?"

My dream cuts again. I am back in the small room, but no one is in there. I stand in the corner with blurry vision and a sick feeling. I figure I am just drunk, nothing to worry about. I realize it is really late at night. My brother and a couple of his friends bust in the room, loud, and probably drunk themselves. I mumble something about the drink and Nick is concerned I was poisoned. I assure him it was just pop. They leave and I vomit in my corner.

Next scene, I am still in the same room sitting on the bed with my grandfather. He came to fix the TV. He put on my favorite show, *Supernatural*. We tune in right as an angel is murdering a demon. My grandfather mentions how gruesome the show is. I don't think it's too bad. Suddenly my view becomes more entranced with the show until it is all I see. My view is on the dead demon, who is oozing pink blood from his neck. My sight is like a camera, panning back up to the angel's face. I am the angel. (If you care, the song "Academy Award" by Franz Ferdinand starts playing to set the eerie mood). I can tell I am older than I am in real life, maybe late twenties or early thirties. My hair was cut short and I am wearing nice clothing. With the blade in my hand, I ascend up the stairs. The mansion I am now in was under construction. Sheets hung over a grand window on the stair landing, but a bright white light was breaking through.

I make it to the stop of the long stairway. It is dark here and tinted with a blue filter. I enter a room. A grey pitbull is standing before me, guarding a cradle. The dog growls at me and I realize I am a threat. I move forward without fear and the dog whimpers away. I place my hand on the cradle railing and look down at the baby boy, but from my view I never actually saw the child. I raise my hand with the blade. The dog growls again. I snap my fingers and it rushed out of the room. Before I stab, my side vibrates. It is my phone. I check it and see my girlfriend texted me, "I thought we were going to go to therapy today."

I break from my murderous trance, dropping the blade and holding my spinning head. I realize that was my girlfriend's father downstairs I just killed and that is my son in the cradle. My mind is consumed with darkness, I realize how evil I am. My life is over. How could I do that to my girlfriend?! I seriously think all of this is real. I blink as hard as I can and wake up in a cold sweat.

What does all of that mean? I had this dream a while back, but it has stuck with me as clear as day.

Dream about visiting to another planet, relating my own height and insecurities

I'm 22 years old male, one thing that those last days bother me off is my own height. I am only like 1.65 in meters height, and I feel very insecure about it. My insecurity steems from the fact that it affects my self-image. Somehow, I just realised how I was compensating too hard for my own insecurities about myself and generaly how it made others view me.

Despite people told me that I am fine and look masculine with my appearance, height still bothers the hell out of me. My insecurity started from watching videos of generaly how shorter people are treated, especialy in the dating side of life.

I myself as a person had a pretty regular life, I have been mostly a Video game and Anime lover most of the time.

This dream happened during middle of the time when my stress and insecurity about my height started to take a serious turn, to the point where it left me a feeling of hopelessness.

The dream started off with me arriving with 3 other people to a planet in a different star system (not our sun) in a ship, the planet was similar to earth, it had blue skies, oceans and cities just like on earth.

We started off in some big mall trading centre, I dont remember much of the dream, but 2 of our crew guys (Which seemed to be guys), went on outside by going up the mall to look at the star, instantly this moment when those guys looked at the star shinning, they started to experience something pretty terrible, It in this point I realised in fear, that the Star that shines on this planet is an evil entity of sort that either corrupts you or does something terrible for you if you glance into it.

I got mental images of the star, the star seemed to be a blue giant, unlike our sun, and when I pictured the 2 crew members looking at it, the star would turn entirely black (Like black sphere in the sky) and basicaly corrupts their mind and it does something to them that I cant explain, eitherway, they die somehow.

I started to experience uneasiness with the presence of this star, I feared looking into it even though I felt wanting to look at it, but tried my best not to.

What only remains is me and a woman, we both decided to return back to our spaceship and avoid looking at the star. Still, when I was outside going for the ship I felt fear and uneasiness by feeling the heat coming out of the star, but I moved in and tried not to look at it, and went into the ship with the woman. The dream ended here.

TL;DR: Landing on a planet on a trading centre, the star is a sentient evil diety god, do not glance into it, 2 crew members died, me and a woman escaping back into the ship, the dream ends here.

I'm 22 years old male, one thing that those last days bother me off is my own height. I am only like 1.65 in meters height, and I feel very insecure about it....

Dreaming of the Devil and Hell

Hello, atheist here so the heavy religious themes in this dream were very unusual to me but disturbing nonetheless. I'm posting for dream interpretation, not religious conversion.

My dream started in a strange post-apocalyptic world where the last humans lived in a tall building. Each level was for a specific rank of society, from one (worst) to seven (best). Social mobility was possible but hard and rare. Oh, and the lower ranks were harvested into some sort of sci-fi or magic brownies for the ranks above them. I was quite low on this pecking order but took part in a ceremony to decide who moved up and down for that year, being tortured after.

Then I woke up and went back to sleep. My dream returned to the seven-levelled weirdo world. I dropped my parents off to their work and witnessed someone threaten to shoot another. The Devil asked me to frame the victim so the shooter would be free to exact more evil.

He claimed my soul and tortured me in hell to get me to agree. My soul had been reincarnated many lifetimes and was a man (I'm a woman). The Devil threatened to torture me to the point of spiritual death each day, but he would go easier on me if I complied.

I needed to infect the victim with lycanthrophy for the devil to claim his soul, because he had been into the abyss of space and was driven mad by the forbidden secrets.

Oh, and the devil was pure darkness. A man with no festures, absent of light or colour.

Context: Atheist woman living in the UK, age 29.

I think I was spiritually attacked tonight

Everything written here was written in a dream book first.

“It was a dream within a dream at first. I was in a park at night. I was in a field with a full moon above me, I saw a man walking in the distance beside a brick wall. I was suddenly dragged at unbelievable speeds. I woke up in my dream with a dark force putting weight on my chest. It felt like hands on my chest. I tried to scream but I couldn’t. I couldn’t move at all, I felt stuck. Eventually, the dark force stopped and I ran into my moms room crying. All I could say at this point was ‘mom’. I tried showing her what happened while she was getting ready for work. I went into my room and my light was on. I didn’t switch on my light originally when I ran out of my room. I went back into my moms room to try to switch on the lights. The lights wouldn’t turn on and I started to panic. I started shaking and crying while saying ‘mom’. My mom just stared at me and then I was tossed against the wall by the dark force. My mom showed little to no emotion toward what just happened. She then kissed me goodbye and left. I went back into my room. My light was off and I still felt evil in my room. I woke up this time for real when I heard my moms car drive away from the house. My chest is heavy, I’m mentally drained, I’m out of breath, I prayed to god to protect me, my mouth feels like it’s been open for a period of time.”

I woke up and journalized this dream about an hour ago (6:30AM EST). I still feel scared, I don’t feel like going back in my room. I’m currently in the kitchen about to cook breakfast to take my mind off this “dream”. If anyone knows what this could be please let me know. Hope everyone has a good day today.
