Look for the differences

The DreamWell dictionary provides information on how each dream symbol appears in dreams in general. Finding how experience illness in dreams can be a key to understanding its meaning.

Return to the feelings

Our emotions in dreams can help us understand its meaning. Pay attention to how you felt in the dream. Pay attention to how you feel about illness in dreams. See how you feel about illness now, in your waking life.

What are possible meanings for dreams of illness?

While illness in a dream is likely to symbolize something unrelated to physical health, first consider the obvious: you might really be ill, or have an illness developing and aren’t consciously aware of it. For example, a dream about finding sick fish in a fishbowl filled with bad water warns the dreamer that a urinary-tract infection is coming on. By applying a simple home remedy, the dreamer treats the condition before it flares into a full-blown illness.

An illness can be represented directly, but is more likely to be referred to using symbolism, such as in the last example. Illness is sometimes referred to as “a bug,” so a dream can represent an illness as an insect or infestation of insects. See: Insects

Generally, a reference to illness in a dream is more likely to mean that something is out of kilter, not working as it should. It is “ill,” dysfunctional. That idea can apply widely to create symbolism. For example, a dysfunctional work or home environment is said to be ill. Societies can be ill. The idea applies to dysfunctional organizations and people, too, creating cross-references that can be used as symbolism.

“Sick in the head” means mental illness or moral depravity. See: Psychologists

Behaviors that cut against the grain can be labeled as mental illness and represented as physical illness. For example, today’s ADHD diagnosis in children used to be called “rebellion” or “free thinking.” Dreams can use this contradiction between what we’re told is illness and what we know to be true to create symbolism.

Illness can begin with belief. Belief that you are ill can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, and dreams know the difference. Dreams will create scenarios involving illness then leave it up to you whether to believe it. If you react with disbelief, or a dream character reacts that way, it’s an indicator to examine the connection between belief and reality. What the mind believes to be true—especially about health and the body—becomes true. This is especially true in dreams, because they create simulated realities based on what you believe to be true, and what you believe to be true in a dream can become true when you are awake.

For example, author Robert Moss dreamed about seeing through the eyes of another man as the man was shot multiple times in the chest. Moss woke up with welts on his chest where the bullets penetrated! During the dream, he thought it was real, and his body responded in kind.

I think I may die soon.

I will not tell the entirety of the dream. because most of it had no correlation, I know that.

It was just tests and reality checks, telling me to get my shit together since I'm a grown ass man who can control his ownself.

Now, I will mention an irl fact, I have a problem. I am parasitic. Whether you believe it or don't believe it, it matters little to me.
I can feel pains in my heart, things entering and moving around in my heart. It feels as if things are there, tugging and just moving. A stinging, sometimes.

Thats just to provide context.

Now onto the part of the dream I haven't been able to clearly decipher.

A book opened, and there was a kind of children's fairytale theme to it. There was a picture of a flat 2D grassfield, with the Sun in the sky and grass on the ground. On the ground laid a heart, my heart, I knew that right away. Perfect looking, rhythmically beating soundly.

Then, the Sun fell and the Moon rose. The once perfect heart that laid there was now black and battered. There were holes in it, and a green acidic looking ooze flooding from out of it. It's rhythm was all off, beating faster than its supposed to.

And then, The Sun rose again, and all was normal.
Until it fell again, then the black heart appeared once again.

There were 5 days of light, and 4 nights. The fifth day, a black bird flew in and grabbed my heart by it's beak and descended into the earth, dropping my heart into a lake of fire.

I woke up shortly after, and my heart was beating faster than usual. The Sun hadn't rose yet, but it was still morning.

One detail I forgot to mention, was that the word AVACADO was on The Sun on the fifth day before the bird grabbed my heart. I dont eat, or talk about Avacadoes.

Even writing this now, at night, I can feel my heart aching, beating irrhythmically, feeling ill.

A day passed and at night I prayed and asked what that dream was meant to show me.

I went through a test of some sort, overcoming something I would usually succumb to, and everything went pitch black.

In white letters, the message appeared.

"Learn to read, Troubled One.

Learn to read, quickly.

Learn to read."

Another day has passed, and it is now night.

I don't know what I wanted coming here. Maybe I just wanted to tell someone, get over my loneliness or ask for help. I'm scared but I feel like I shouldn't be.

Oh, something to note, I talk to the Sun for comfort. I call it Mr.Sun, and ask it to carry my prayers and messages to the Lord and Jesus. It's just something I do. I dont know if that carries any meaning, but yeah.

I will not tell the entirety of the dream. because most of it had no correlation, I know that.

It was just tests and reality checks, telling me to get my shit...

How do I stop visiting a dream world??

I need to stop going to this world when I fall asleep. It takes place at my high school, it represents my fears and my reluctance to move on from someone from what I understand. I’ve been visiting this place for around 8 months now. It’s the same environment and just slightly different subplots each time. I need to move on and let go of both this place and the people in it. I want so badly to move on and never go back to that place. I’m sick of dream after dream of going through some meaningless story that’s just another variation of the 1000 others. The emotions are always the same - I’m scared to see the person I’m avoiding, the environment is comfortable because it has my friends and classes I’ve enjoyed in the past, but I know I don’t really belong there anymore.

This is impacting my waking life. I wake up and my heart hurts from the person I’m avoiding/missing and I spend the day sad and anxious. I just need them to stop. I don’t talk to this person any more, I barely talk to anyone from my high school, and I haven’t visited my hometown lately. The intensity of what I’m feeling doesn’t change as time goes on and I just want to be free.

The most disturbing and disgusting sexual dream I’ve had

I dreamt about a girl’s instagram getting hacked (in the dream she was my friend, but in reality she’s an influencer that I don’t even care about or interact with) and the hacker posted pictures of him having intercourse with a... kid? But it wasn’t a normal kid, he was weirdly disfigured like he had some sort of condition or illness, I don’t even think he had a body, just a really big head.
“If he doesn’t have a body, then how did the Intercourse happen?”
Well, there were pictures where he (the hacker) inserted himself into the kid’s eye, nose, or ear. I remember him also inserting himself somewhere else, I think it was his throat, there was an open space since the kid had no body.
There were also pictures of the kid sleeping or close ups of his face.
In the dream I was disgusted, I never felt arousement whatsoever.
I don’t know what this dream means and it’s eating me alive ?????????
