What are possible meanings for dreams of journeys?

As with other symbolism, when considering what a journey in a dream can mean, think about how it’s used to compare with situations in life, and explain it in simplest terms. A journey is an act of traveling from one place to another. In our lives we “go places.” We have destinations to reach and landmarks to mark our progress. We journey from one point to the next—from high school to college and job training, from college to career, from marriage to children.

A close friendship is comparable to a journey because you share major events and landmarks of your lives together. A major project can be like a journey. A career can be a journey.

You can dream about a journey when your life goes off in a new direction. Oftentimes it marks the beginning of something new and exciting, but also consider that changes in your life can slow you down. For example, you reach an age when you can’t get around as you used to, you retire, or your children leave home. These situations are the beginning of new journeys in life. See: Embarking

Life itself is a journey, and the pace shows in how you travel: jet, boat, car, train. See below.

The journey of life can be summarized as developing your ego, your unique identity, then reintegrating it with the unconscious mind. See: Egos, Unconscious minds

Awakening process in a dream?

Had a dream of a samurai ( or a monk I can’t remember ) attempting to help me “awaken” in his little hut next to a lake.

Every time he would ask me to close my eyes, I would get thrown into a dark void and forced to find my center/self, he did this various times (4-5 times) until the last time I closed my eyes and when I opened them I was submerged in water.

The experience of what I thought was “myself” was just knowing that I was looking into this void.

I felt like I had enough and that’s when I woke up.

Currently on a journey of finding out the self or the “I” without going too much into it.

Thoughts on this ?

Help me solve this riddle from last night’s dream

I am a vivid, linear dreamer who suffers regularly from hypnagogia, sleep paralysis, and night terrors.

Last night, I had a long, linear dream that mirrored an epic/fantasy. I was on a fantastic/strange continent across which I traversed to solve a riddle. At the base of the mountain, I found a relief in a mound of rocks with a treasure box. Inside was a scroll of parchment. When I unrolled it, these are the words I found:

_________ are the map...
_________ is the key.

Solve the riddle, and you will be rewarded your greatest wish and the influence over 1000 suns.”

Along with a companion, I traveled many landscapes, met many fantastical persons and creatures, as I attempted to fill in the blanks within the riddle. In a forest of twisted/gnarled trees, in an owl’s hole at the heart of a grand old oak, I found an object that was a puzzle that needed to be solved, like a rubik’s cube but made of stone and fewer columns to align.

When I solved the puzzle, the stone crumbled to dust. Inside was a femur bone around which was wrapped another scroll of parchment. It said:

“Skeletons are the map...
_________ is the key.”

After more journeying with my mysterious companion, I discovered another puzzle on which was written the final missing word to the riddle. I felt a grand oneness, because the whole riddle together made perfect sense, and I knew exactly where to go to achieve my goal.

Sadly, I woke, and I could not remember the word that filled the final blank, and the oneness I felt from the solution entirely fell apart. It has been haunting my waken self ever since.

“Skeletons are the map...”
What is the key?!

Any thoughts or insights?

I dreamt about falling in love, and my “soul mate” died later in the dream. It felt very real, and I still have a feeling of dread a week after the dream occurred. Any thoughts as to what this could...

To preface, I had a girlfriend that broke up with my a few months back. It was very unexpected which was why it hurt, but I’m pretty positive I have moved on from her although I do wish I had a girl like that now. Once I healed from having a girlfriend, I began the journey of healing myself from being alone (I would be totally fine when occupied, but when alone it was a terrible feeling as the reality set in that I didn’t have someone to bring me comfort like I used to). Anyway, that’s the issue i’ve been focused on the last month or two (which by the way, has been going fine and I’m not depressed or anything). NOW- the point- Why did this dream have such a big impact on me? I know we can’t make up faces in a dream, but I don’t know the girl that was in my dream that I supposedly fell in love with. In the dream, it was rather lucid and I felt love for sure. My heart broke when the girl had passed away, and It still affects me. I’ve been thinking about it the last day, and I just want closure as to why this dream is affecting me so much.
TLDR: Had a girlfriend that broke up with me quite a few months ago, thought she was the one blablabla, eventually i had this dream that was so realistic it made me real life sad. Any thoughts?

Dream been bothering me for days I have no idea how to rationalize it

Hello I just wanted to see if anyone may know the meaning of this dream it has been bothering me greatly since it happened

Had a dream i was on a alien planet and I was surrounded by a small group of people who looked up to me the planet was covered with ghost and aliens and it was like routine to get off the planet we did it 3 times. It seemed routine we seemed to live the same adventure over and over but still remember the past journeys. Atleast I did and they began to trust me more each time. To clarify each of the 3 times was the exact same adventure. Each member had their own ghosts to deal with and i would bail them out each time. Then I would end up in the exact same situation again but they seemed to trust me more but never outright mentioned the past experience. The third time my ex was there no idea why never talk or think about her. She showed up at the beginning and the journeys began like normal starting with us eating at a table having conversations getting to know each other. The others had their same anwsers and responses. However she was cold as if she did not want to be there. I tried to reassure her that moment we get off this planet we would not have to talk again. After I said that she began to talk albeit very coldly. Eventually as the conversation went along she seemed to be more intrested in it and became very warm. It felt like we were bonding during the beginning of the adventure. As soon as we realized we needed to get off the planet I took charge as was the usual. Everyone followed me automatically except her. She stated she had followed me before and it ended badly. I was very confused and thought she was referencing our past. She outright defied alot of my decisions almost getting people hurt. aS we once again fight through this planet we see some ghost trying to hurt her. I save her and she is grateful. She then starts to trust my lead more than she ever has. Even seeming to enjoy ? It im not sure at the end of the planet I see classmates I knew in my old state as zombies. I had to kill each one myself to spare the others and I haven't seen these zombies or the people they represent in more then a decade. This was only time in the adventure this happened. I got us off the planet then I woke up.

I am extremely confused as to what it may mean. I have been trying to ignore it but it keeps popping up. She bothered me the most im not sure why either. I am troubled by this dream and could really use guidance on what this may mean for me or my mindset

I met someone in a dream, they just wanted me to be happy.

I met a girl at a bar in my dream tonight. I was sitting alone feeling lonely. I saw someone I thought I recognized, this blonde girl with long curly hair and kind of "splotchy" freckles, one of which sort of transitioned over the right of her upper lip. I thought she was so beautiful. She had a kind face.

I said hi as if we had met before and she turned around looking confused. I said I thought I knew her, but that I now realized I didn't. She ran off, just turned around once and made a kind of waving gesture, making sure I was ok. I looked down in to the table in dissapointment only to look up to see her sitting herself down in front of me. She smiles at me with her blue eyes and says something like "You looked like you needed some company."

I swallow my pride and say yes. I don't remember any specific details about our conversations, but we had a really nice time and end up in someones apartment. She knows how sad and lonely I've felt. She just knows and understands. She holds me, and I can feel the warmth and comfort she shares with me. We sleep, holding eachother until morning.

It is a bittersweet moment, I know she's with someone else. I get to be in her space, just tonight. The warmth eminates from her neck into my face, it's that unmistakable feeling of skin against skin. I can feel her heartbeat, her breathing.

Somewhere deep down I realized she was just a dream, but I didn't want to let go, not now. It's been so long. So long in fact, that just the light touch of a kind-hearted dream woman is enough to send me on a spiritual journey of self-discovery.

I cling to the feeling. I enjoy it as much as I possibly can. So much so that we run out of time. It's morning now, maybe 8am. She gets up and starts rounding up her things. I don't want her to leave, but I can't bring myself to say anything. I just look at her. She's so focused. Not like she's ignoring me, just like really into whatever she's doing.

I bring myself to speak; "Thank you for showing me some humanity" I say.

She smiles again with her blue eyes. "That's really nice."

And then she's off, running down the stairs. I wake up and decide I had to write this down so I never forget her. I hope I see her again. Fuck I miss her so much.
